Regarding the low action. I own a Euro LX and it has the lowest action of any bass I ever played.
Did you get this new or used?

Unless there is an issue with the neck I am thinking you can get the action you like with a good "setup"

Its new. After some exploration, there is a issue not with the neck but the frets. The first string buzz in frets 5,6,7 if I low the action too much. Perhaps is not a problem of the entire line, only a few bad luck with mine. Not a big problem indeed, I like very low action but I will not die for use a little less low action here lol

Couldn't disagree more.
The NS95 has never been near as popular as the NS, hense the (much) lower used pricing and why it was discontinued after a relatively short run. A nice fretless 5 string version w/case just went on eBay for only about $300 (almost bought it).

Unless that bass is toast physically, with the Haz and the case included...that's an extremely fair price.

Can you confirm that that IS the HAZ? The specs say "EMG Preamp".
Or is this another exception??

You should probably take it to a luthier and have the frets checked for level or have them leveled. You may have a humidity problem or the neck got to warm and caused the frets to rise out of the fret grooves a little bit.

It looks like a haz copy , but the board looks different , not the grey color like in the ns2a .that one is green like the boards on an emg , but shaped like a haz

Yep, That's why I was asking... Looks odd for a HAZ....

The emg pre is a small board usually. Mounted to one of the pots. Never seen any kid of emg pre even half to 1/4 the size of the haz.

Sounds like you may just need a minor truss rod tweek.

Yeah, I know.. Ihave the BTS in my NS-2J and the BQS in my Euro 4 LX Ian Hill....
But the specs on SPECTOR's website says the stock preamp is EMG... but no type listed.
I've not seen a HAZ or Haz copy with a green PC board... But, now that I say that I seem to recall this same conversation happening a long time ago and someone saying "Yes, There was a series of green boarded haz copies" or something to that effect.

It looks like the Haz copies I have it a few of my basses...this site gives you some examples. PJ confirmed for me that they used a Czech made Haz copy for a while some of the NS4CR basses.

it's not too early...it's from later 1990's.
I see the serial number inside the control cavity,
looks like 1175. so it's probably 1998 or early 1999 production.

looks like this bass has Czech version 9v circuit. we tried those
a few times in those basses in the 90's but most had EMG BT circuits, yes.

Does Spector have a factory recommendation for pickup heights on a Euro 4LX? I've finally got the neck action set perfectly and want to make sure the pickup height is just right.

I have to agree with Mr. Phat. Of course, it's only worth what you are willing to pay for it.

So the past week has been a struggle with the Spector that I have. I had only played the bass in my practice room through my combo amp. It had a great sound and I couldn't wait to try it out with my bands.

I tried it with my band and it just seemed to underwhelm me a little bit. I thought the EMG Pickups and Pre were going to be super loud and powerful but they weren't. I was very discouraged. Tried it again the next day and the same thing. Adjust my amp, boosted the pre and it just didn't seem "loud" at all like I thought it would be.

I spoke with Limaguy, diechris, and PJ at Spector about the pre and all were very helpful. Today I decided to change batteries in the bass. The bass was sent to me with a "new" battery in it and it was an Eveready battery. I changed it to a new Duracell and I played it through an amp in the sanctuary of the church and it really seemed to help. I'm gonna try it through my rig soon and with my band again and see.

I'm looking at converting it to 18volts if another battery will fit in the control panel. If I still find the EMG BTS pre to be lacking I may install a new Tone Pump or Aguilar.

My point of this story is that I really like how the Spector guys stick together and take care of each other. It's good to be in the Spector brotherhood!

This is what EMG suggests: "EMG Active Pickups have very little magnetism compared to passive pickups. We recommend you adjust the pickups as close to the strings as possible. Sustain and string movement will not be inhibited by close adjustment."

Adding an additional 9v should help a lot. You shouldn't have any issues stuffing another battery in the control cavity.
