Spector Club - Part 13

First off I want to give a shout out to LimaGuy who sold me some (highly discounted) strings so I could experiment. They are helping alot with my low E. It is more pronounced now, but it does seem a little muddy. Here are the two options i am looking at and will probably do both eventually...

#1 Get a pair of EMG 35HZ pups (I currently have the EMG/SSD pups which I have read are voiced to boost the mids, and they definitely do) I've read the HZ are not much different but do boost the low end a bit.

#2 Get a preamp... My options here are a Tonepump Jr., EMG BTS system, Aguilar preamp (not sure which one)

What do you guys thing would be a good first step?

I may have a set of 35hz's and a vol/vol tonepump. I'm Looking to upgrade to DC's .

In two years the 30th Anniversary of the Synchronicity Concert will occur (1983-2013)... I've been asking if a Limited Edition Gloss White NS-2 with the Brooklyn specs is possible.

Actually next year is a better year because that bass was actually made in late 1982. So it's a 1982 NS-2.

The difficulty is that the original Leo Quan Badass Bridge that was on that bass is no longer made and finding them is getting harder and harder to do. I had heard that the original dies to make those bridges had been damaged or destroyed.

Second is that as a limited edition 1982 reissue bass is doable, but Sting's name could never be attached to it. He's a solid Fender guy and actually donated that white SPECTOR to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and doesn't even own it anymore.

He discontinued his relationship with SPECTOR after Kramer purchased it. They wanted "Rock" musicians, not "pop" and so they showed him no love... crazy isn't it? And he stopped playing that bass.

Another prime example of Kramer's short-sighted nature... which led to their financial collapse.

Anyway... I've been asking. Who knows what the future will bring.

And of course gloss white is always a special-order optional color for the NS-2. You can order one, it just won't have the badass bridge on it.

Here is an idea, I know not the same but it would be in the more affordable range.
A Sting Re-issue made at the Czech or maybe even the Korean Factory so we all can afford one.

That old Fender he uses needs to be donated to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
Then Sting needs to see your My Spector Story and mine.... Sting will be so moved, he will become a Spector Artist again. :hiding: :D :bassist:

As a 4 string isn't and will never be my main instrument this is a perfect compromise for me. I wouldn't want to lay down big bucks for one of these because it won't get used as much as my 5ers. :hmm:

It's kind of odd. He went from the most comfortable contoured bass on the planet to a SLAB bodied P bass. :confused:

Out of curiosity, what albums did sting record on his Spector? I've seen live footage of him with the NS-2 but I'm not sure if I've heard it recorded. And a Czech made one isn't a bad idea at all.
That really is too bad that Kramer would do that to sting. Why show no love to someone in one of the most popular bands in the world when he's rocking your product? :confused:

I really have come to love the whole Spector family and the way the company seems like a small family company who cares about its customers. This club is awesome... and the wide variety of endorsed artists now is awesome... I own a fender bass (jazz special project) and its cool but just playing my low end Spector makes me smile and feel like a real rockstar. :bassist: anyways great bunch of folks here..

On a side note, I can't get the Euro replacement knobs to fit on the NS-2A. Then I read this: 'These do not fit a solid pot shaft.' DOH!

Why are there two different black plastic knob sets? Are they the same? I'm assuming they're different because one set is $7 and the other is $20 :hmm:
