The knobs for the USA Basses, which are not currently available in the online store will fit the solid shaft pots. These knobs have two hex screws for tightening the knob to the shaft. Other than that they look just like the Euro knob.

I'll check to make sure this isn't confusing... but the set is $20, individual knobs are $7

So if you need one, it's $7.00 if you want two it's $14.00 after that buy the set of 4 for $20... it's a better deal.

Don't tell anyone, but I got the set for $7. I ordered them the same time I ordered the gold Legend 4 bridge. Maybe Jo Ann likes me.

Now, I will go into unchartered waters - soldering time with the new passive EMG P/J set. I've never swapped out PUPs for a bass with a preamp. Only passive basses. Keeping my fingers crossed.

NS-2A owners - could be an anomaly, but my input jack sticks out a good half inch from the body. I thought they were all like this. Is it supposed to be flush or inset?

Below is a photo of both of my NS-2A's and one of my Euros. Is there a rubber piece on yours between the jack and the body?
You can see the replacement jack on mine does stick out a bit.

Are you putting the Gold Legend bridge on the NS-2A?

Good luck with the PU's. Which Pre do you have in there?

Heck, I'd be perfectly happy with a white standard Euro 4LX or 5LX. I would like to get a white Spector one day, but a greenie 5 will be on my list first. It's a shame that Kramer burned that bridge with Sting back then...but they made several mistakes back then. That's what happens when you focus on the metal crowd, and you throw money around like it's confetti, and you plaster yourself on the back covers of every magazine remotely tied to music.

Oh, uh....sorry, soapbox moment over!

Finally finished up the mods to my NS2A adding the last piece to the puzzle...Hipshot D tuner :D
I have done pretty much a complete overhaul to the bass,(as posted in an earlier thread) and I have to say it plays and sounds fantastic :bassist:
After all the consideration about doing the mods and realizing that I would be investing about the same amount of cash that I payed for the bass, I am really happy with the finished product.
Thanks Ice for the NS2A (w/Spector case) and to all the Spector heads who continue to share their knowledge and experiences in the Spector Club, what a great place to be a part of!!!

Looks great, Did you rout the bridge area yourself?

The 3 mounting screws in the Euro Bridge fit directly into places where the the original bridge was? So you just needed to rout a bigger area to fit the bridge in?

Yes, I used a dremel with the router attachment and the screw holes lined up perfect. I ended up taking about a 1/4" off each side for the width and around 1/8th" from the top and bottom.

Hmmm...the jack on my NS-2A seems like an 'outie' and it has the rubber ring.

I have the Haz copy, so it's a matter of figuring out the V,V,B,T wiring - since the new EMGs I got are passive I don't have to worry about hooking them up to the battery. We'll see.. :hmm: Like I said, I've never wired a bass with a pre in it before.

And yeah, I put a gold Legend 4 bridge in - it dropped in perfectly, no routing needed.

You wire up the the hot and the braid ground the same as the passives you are replacing. Then take the red wires (non-existent on the passives) to the battery for power as shown on typical EMG schematics for wiring up their actives.

As we've covered before, the newly added active pups might get a little bright at max tone settings due to the higher valued pots in the Spector Haz copy (not sure about what's in the MM114 type copies), but definately usable.

Lol :O It's as clean as a whitsle...I took the strings off, cleaned it thoroughly with a Q-tip and put a few coats of polish on her. :D

Actually next year is a better year because that bass was actually made in late 1982. So it's a 1982 NS-2.

The difficulty is that the original Leo Quan Badass Bridge that was on that bass is no longer made and finding them is getting harder and harder to do. I had heard that the original dies to make those bridges had been damaged or destroyed.

Second is that as a limited edition 1982 reissue bass is doable, but Sting's name could never be attached to it. He's a solid Fender guy and actually donated that white SPECTOR to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and doesn't even own it anymore.

He discontinued his relationship with SPECTOR after Kramer purchased it. They wanted "Rock" musicians, not "pop" and so they showed him no love... crazy isn't it? And he stopped playing that bass.

Another prime example of Kramer's short-sighted nature... which led to their financial collapse.

Anyway... I've been asking. Who knows what the future will bring.

And of course gloss white is always a special-order optional color for the NS-2. You can order one, it just won't have the badass bridge on it.

Actually ill bet what I want is a Gloss White USA IAN HILL SPECS with a HAZLAB in it.
Whatchya think?
