Spector Club - Part 15

This might be more of an Amp forum question, but I trust the collective experience and judgment of this forum so I'm posting it here.

You might remember that I ordered a Shuttle 6.0 from PAS last week, with carrying bag and Speakon cable. Well, it showed up today and I have a dilemma: I didn't receive the Shuttle 6 I ordered, I received a ShuttleMax 6 with footswitch, a Shuttle 6 carrying bag and 1/4" speaker cable. Huh! So, I received a $900 amp when I paid less than MSRP for a $700 amp. (It arrived in a ShuttleMax box, but the ebay listing and invoice were definitely Shuttle 6.0)

Now, my dilemma is not moral or ethical, it's product related. Before I contact PAS to let them know what happened, should I consider keeping the ShuttleMax? It seems the major difference is in the EQ capabilities for the two channels, but is it superior enough that I should see if they'll work out a deal for the Max?

Other than a VT Deluxe for tone shaping presets, I don't use any effects pedals; and with EQ, I lean toward 'set it and forget it' unless there's a real issue with the overall band sound. Is the Max overkill or will it bring out the best in my Spector, beyond the capabilities of a straight Shuttle? Edited to Add: I wouldn't mind a Shuttle 6, I'd just need to return the Max and have them send me the correct amp, so probably nothing lost but some time.

Appreciate any advice you can offer.

Edited once more to add: I checked the PAS website and they don't offer any ShuttleMax amps. Maybe I received an upgrade... ? I'll contact them later this afternoon.

I've got a question for the Spector experts here. I just bought a official Spector hard shell case for for my NS5 CR from MF. I specifically ordered the case for the five string. When I put the bass in the case, it will fit in the molded body section but it's extremely snug. You have to turn it at an angle to get it to fit. The lid also doesn't completely close unless you latch it. My NS2 fits with no issues. The box it came in only says Spector Bass on it. Did they mistakenly send me a 4 string case? Is there any way to tell for sure? TIA.

I could make do with this:

Spector Bass - BARELY BEEN PLAYED | eBay

I used to not be a big fan of matte finishes, but I LOVE this one, even if there is no wood grain showing thru.

Those really are sweet basses. Limaguy has pretty much that exact bass and I have been lucky enough to play it when I have gone over his house. It looks even better in person and plays like a dream.

I ran into same problem, here's a letter from SPECTOR customer support.

for over a year now, we have one standard case,
for our 4st, 5st, and 6st basses. I am sure it's not
wide enough for your bass as a 6st is a VERY tight fit :)

sorry about that. how about a more generic case, with
no body cutout inside??

cheers,
PJ

I have the exact Blk Matte Euro 4 LX.
It really is amazing. The Matte finish makes the neck very fast and solid Matte Black looks really great with the Spector Curves. :D :bassist:

(as per your previous question, I dont notice any tonal differences)

dang, I haven't even gotten my 5er in yet, and already gassing for not one, but two more?!? Isn't there a pill for this?!?!?!? I'd love to have a Gloss White Euro 4 or 5, and now I'm gassin' for a black matte 4 or 5....why couldn't I just have a fever for more cowbell instead? LOL

I think they may have sent you a 4 string case.

My 4 string Euro fits perfectly in a 4 string case.

I tried a 5 string Euro in that same case and it could have fit if you jamed it in.

A 5 string Euro fit in a 5 string Spector Case with ease.

delucajohn2000 has that 5 string case now, and his Euro 5LX fit perfectly in.

Also, I remember the 5 string case was slightly taller then the 4 string case. Measure the length of the case, I will check the length of my case later.

If there was a pill, I would be on 1,000,000,000 MGs a day.
Dont even try to resist the GAS, you just have to learn to live with it. ;) :help:

Honestly, anytime I have gotten a another Spector, the GAS goes away for about a week. Then it comes back stronger then ever for another. :hiding:

I just checked MF's website and the five string and four string cases have different stocking numbers. I tried calling Spector but PJ isn't answering his line. ;)
