Yes... he could have ordered a 34" scale SPECTOR 5-string... but like you said, "why would you want to?" I mean 34" is fine if you're never going to drop tune... but Stuart went to the XL scale on the 5 and 6 strings (and now on the Euro4LX models) because that extra inch adds string tension that's important when you drop your tuning down.

Seriously, you move from an original Lamborghini to one of those fiberglass copies that bolted onto a Corvette body from the 1970's... Sure it looks like a REAL Lamborghini as long as you don't get too close... and DON'T open the hood...

I'm sure the guy that drives the CountactS (note I didn't say "Countach-S"... the fake ones have that one letter changed on their body logo) fake Lambo tells people, "Yeah I thought about the original but I didn't want all the hassle of that V12 engine and all them wires... look here under my car's hood... see that?!?! It's a good ol' Chevy small block! Nope! No expensive mechanic's bills here!" LOL.

He's got to have something nice to say about their stuff. I mean the guy's got to try and keep his chin up. You know he's just stepped down to a lesser guitar... I know it and he knows it.

Andy's a good guy... so be nice to him. And don't laugh at his Pontiac Fiero with the Lamborghini body. :D

Unfortunately... things in our economy are tough on everyone and sometimes hard choices have to be made.

You guys may or may not know this but SPECTOR does not pay it's endorsed artists for their endorsements. And SPECTOR never GIVES guitars away. Even to guys like Doug Wimbish. Artists pay for their guitars just like the rest of us.

WW does pay some artists and has no issues giving guitars away. Over the years when you see a guy who has been playing SPECTORs all the sudden start playing WW its typically because they are getting either free basses or some cash or both and they've found themselves in a place where that's more appealing than playing a superior instrument. I don't knock them for it. It is what it is and it's the nature of the music industry. Many manufacturers will give guitars away all day to musicians with record contracts. SPECTOR never has.

Andy had a hard choice to make but the guy has a wife and house and responsibilities and he felt he needed to explore an offer by WW to do clinics and represent them from an educational standpoint.

Which, for as long as I've known Andy, has been his dream. He has always said he wanted to travel the world and share his love of music and teach others and inspire them to pick up a bass or guitar.

And Andy is one heck of a musician. He's a great guitarist, awesome bassist, songwriter, composer... he's the perfect guy to reach out to people and do just that because he doesn't have a formal educational background... he's a regular guy and his gift is being able to talk about music in a way that people without a music background can understand it.

SPECTOR's focus is making great guitars... a full-blown educational outreach program isn't really in the cards right now.

Andy made what I hope will be a wildly successful career move and he'll be able to live his dream. I could care less that it's for WW because if you know Andy, it's not really about the brand you play... it's that you play and you enjoy doing it.

So everyone please be nice to Andy. You can love the musician and not the brand of bass they play.

And I want to make sure everyone knows I wasn't picking at Andy about the whole fake Lamborghini thing...

Then I saw this.
It's one of those tiny smart cars with a Lamborghini body on it...

No joke. There's a company that sells bolt on bodies for the SMART car.

When I think of the whole SPECTOR - WW thing... I think of this:

Why not try them both one at a time and see which sounds better for you.

And in case you didn't know, you'll have to power the active pups around the NS-2A Haz copy's board. It won't push enough power to the pups because it was made for passives.

So you'll have to run power directly from the battery to the pups.

I think if you get the NS-2A to work it'll be more faithful to the sound that bass should have with a 9v USA circuit installed in it... if that's what you're going for tone-wise...
