I think I send him about 3-4 links a week. :hiding: :D :bassist:

And on the off days I am sending links to Trace, Mad and others. :hiding:

Oh and don't forget my moments of harrasing everyone to do a My Spector Story. :ninja:

Keep the links coming Sam. It gives me topics to talk about with my shrink since I am always complaining about not having money :)

I don't think anyone would want to see a Spector story by me unless you guys need something to help you fall asleep. It would be super boring :hiding:

Well, just gotta keep putting $ away right? And all of the European ones I've played have been so fantastic, I can't even begin to imagine what a US one feels like. One day...

It's funny. All it took was one person getting a new one and people are selling basses right and left to get one!

My Euro series was incredibly well built. I only sold it because neck thru isn't my bag. Still looking for the right Bolt on. :)

I can understand that. My one fear about neckthroughs is that if something were to go wrong with the neck I'd be in trouble, and I probably couldnt afford to replace it. However, im sure spectors are extremely well put together (haven't played one yet that wasn't) and from everything I've heard the customer support is top notch.
Besides that, all I've ever owned have been bolt on, so I'm used to them. I'm really gassing for an amber rebop 5er. May consider selling some gear to get one soon.

Anyone notice Andy Irvine recently got sponsorship from Warwick?
Can anyone guess what his Warwick of choice is?

(hint hint, it looks a lot like a Spector!)

JPSBassist, do you know why he may have done this? I had come to respect the guy..

Yea, that was brought up two threads ago I believe?

Lots of people dislike him because of it. But someone said he did it because Warwick is enabling him to do more clinics.

My bad, I'm having trouble keeping up with the Spector threads--it feels like every time I look back on TB, there's a new one started. :D

Yeah, I watched one of his videos on his Warwick channel and he had mentioned that he didn't like the fact that Spector (although he didn't drop the name, of course) 5 string basses weren't 34 inch scale necks, although I'm sure he could've gotten one made for him that way.

At any rate, I feel those are both feeble excuses to go to Warwick...especially to a Streamer...Gross.

This probably the most prolific club on TB. it only takes a couple weeks or so to hit the 1000 post mark and a new thread starts. :D

Similar to Guitar Center Item #105609317, but 2 years old.
There is a small chip on the face just to the left of the neck pickup along with a few other pick scratches.
This is my son's bass. He purchased a Spector 5-string a year ago and doesn't play this anymore.

Andy's a great guy and a good friend.

Unfortunately... things in our economy are tough on everyone and sometimes hard choices have to be made.

You guys may or may not know this but SPECTOR does not pay it's endorsed artists for their endorsements. And SPECTOR never GIVES guitars away. Even to guys like Doug Wimbish. Artists pay for their guitars just like the rest of us.

WW does pay some artists and has no issues giving guitars away. Over the years when you see a guy who has been playing SPECTORs all the sudden start playing WW its typically because they are getting either free basses or some cash or both and they've found themselves in a place where that's more appealing than playing a superior instrument. I don't knock them for it. It is what it is and it's the nature of the music industry. Many manufacturers will give guitars away all day to musicians with record contracts. SPECTOR never has.

Andy had a hard choice to make but the guy has a wife and house and responsibilities and he felt he needed to explore an offer by WW to do clinics and represent them from an educational standpoint.

Which, for as long as I've known Andy, has been his dream. He has always said he wanted to travel the world and share his love of music and teach others and inspire them to pick up a bass or guitar.

And Andy is one heck of a musician. He's a great guitarist, awesome bassist, songwriter, composer... he's the perfect guy to reach out to people and do just that because he doesn't have a formal educational background... he's a regular guy and his gift is being able to talk about music in a way that people without a music background can understand it.

SPECTOR's focus is making great guitars... a full-blown educational outreach program isn't really in the cards right now.

Andy made what I hope will be a wildly successful career move and he'll be able to live his dream. I could care less that it's for WW because if you know Andy, it's not really about the brand you play... it's that you play and you enjoy doing it.

So everyone please be nice to Andy. You can love the musician and not the brand of bass they play.
