Yeah, we all have families and don't have delusions of grandeur about being big touring rock stars, lol . Were shooting for a strong local following, some local air play, and would like to open for some of the bigger bands that come around. Would like to get on some of the bigger festival concerts around here too. We'd all be happy with that.

What are you using for your rig? What preamp do you have in your Rebop? I'm considering selling my Tonepump that is missing the trimpot from my Euro LX5 as I'd like to upgrade to the Trim pot version of the Tonepump. It's just too hot for my needs.

I have an EMG BQC pre installed in my Rebop. I'm playing that through a Genz Benz ShuttleMax 12 which goes into an Epifani UL2 212 (and eventually a UL2 410). I get the feeling I'd get more growl if I had a tonepump, but I'm not sure I'm willing to part with the versatility of the pre that I have now.

I've used A Demeter vtbp-201s into a QSC PLX1602 into a Bergantino NV215. That set up didn't get me the growl I was expecting from my Euro5LX so I got a Genz Benz Shuttle 9.0. Now the growl is all there. I think the Demeter's inherent ultrasmooviness was killing the growl. Oh and the Berg just freekin' kills.

Dang, talk about hi-fi! How do those kinds of rigs work? The ones with a seprate pre amp and power amp, I mean.
I've heard a lot of good things about the Bergie cabs. I was really torn between the two when I went for the rig I currently have, but I made peace with my decision knowing I'd get a Bergie eventually

Yeah the 400+ is discontinued, but still pretty widely available used. There's rumors of a new all tube mesa, but it hasn't seen the light of day yet.

Dang, that stinks. I've noticed a lot of people with Mesa stuff. Those amps seem like heavy duty rock tone and they look awesome. I've always liked the Double and Triple Erectifiers, but I've never gotten a chance to play their bass stuff.

Still waiting on parts so I can swap the haz copy into the NS2000/4, wired up the pickups to a selector switch and straight to the jack, the EMG-HZ's don't sound half bad, a bit harsh but I'm thinking the haz preamp will warm them up a bit when I get it installed, I'm going crazy waiting to finish it!

Also, if anyone knows where to get machine screws that fit the threaded inserts for the control cavity cover, or at least what size screws I need to get please let me know, taping the cover on sucks!

I hear ya on the 'just transpose it'. My band plays Eb standard, and I've gotten used to the string tension - so when I tune to E (regular standard tuning), the strings feel just a tad bit too tense. Hammer-ons, trills, note bending get so much easier if you tune down, IMO.

I help write and arrange a lot of our stuff too after the bare bones skeleton parts come in, so everyone in the same tuning really is best when I need to show my singer a part or something.
At this point alternate tunings are just a part of life and I think Mark Tremonti said it best in that said drop/alt tunings has saved his career more than once!
Plus with the stuff we cover everyone is in drop something or other so I figure why fight it! Dropping a low open G or A is pretty devestating thru a phat PA!

Dude, how tall are you? I don't know if it is the angle of the picture but that Euro looks tiny on you in the first set of pictures you posted.

Oh, is that a Goliath Sr. you are using? If that is yours, how do you like it?

The Hz's aren't bad. The haz clone will give them some more mids, but the output isn't that hot. The std emg's are much hotter.

I really like the HZs .... I am running mine with a TP.

They do sound good, a little smoother than std emg's. They sound good also with the emg pre.

I think they get a bad rap because they come in a lot of basses with not so good pre's (schecter etc. ). Lol I think my rebop sounded better with them and the tp. Than the DC /P and the haz clone.

I'm not a big fan of active EMGs for my playing (yes, I like spectors, but prefer passive pickups, I am weird.) as I find them to be a bit to crisp and grindy sounding for my liking. The HZ's seem to bridge the gap between passive pickups and EMGs for me, more clarity and even response than vintage pickups, but not too hot or crisp.

Tonight I got the haz-copy installed and this bass sounds GREAT. Not too hot, just right output-wise. I love the haz-copy with passive pickups because it sounds nice and warm, but if I want more grind and punch I can dial up the treble and pan to the bridge pickup.

If I do decide I want hotter pickups, I have a set of SGD pickups on order, ND3-35 Wide humbuckers for another project of mine that I could just as easily swap into the Spector when I receive them.

And honestly....I think my GAS might be cured. Playing this thing is so comfortable (especially to someone with joint problems like me!) and surprisingly good sounding, especially considering I have spent barely more than $250 on this thing! It was like the perfect project when I got it from ebay, almost all the broken or missing parts were parts I already had leftover or randomly acquired already. Weather permitting, I should have some good quality photos tomorrow.

Totally agree. I have a Schecter 8-string with them and the preamp stinks! I've been debating converting it to passive volume volume tone tone.

As much as I love my TC RH450/RS210's setup, hands down I would go with SVT-2pro/810.......but only if I had a roadie!

It's really hard to say. I started with my TC rig next to my SVT stack and just kept eq'ing til they were similar. Hard to beat an SVT stack. Unless you're moving it......

I use my Spector exclusively with my Peavey Tour 700 amp right now. It's a really clean sounding SS amp and I really love the tone. I really like the tone of my Euro LX5 through my Avatar 212, but it just sounds killer through my Ampeg 810e. The aggressive tone of the Spector really blends well with the clean tone of my amp.

Yeah I'm 6 4 and I even have the 35 in Euro 4 haha!
I absolutely love my Goliath sr! With my swr 750 it's perfect for me. I've played a few other amps and I always go back to my swr stuff. I'd still like to try out trace stuff sometime if I could. They only have ampeg, gk, and mark bass at the local music stores.

Wish they had more variety.

What I use with my Spector.......The ampeg is an old v4b, the poor mans svt. 100 watts all tube (forgive me about the p bass in the picture, it was taken before I was a spector guy). The Eden is for smaller gigs and practice, I think Im going to add a 1x15 under the eden, the ampeg would work well with a single 1x15 too.

I hear you on the not having anything other than Ampeg, GK, and Markbass. I was at Guitar Center last night trying to see what I could get for another bass I have and those 3 were pretty much the only amp brands they had there.

I do have a local place by me though that does sell SWR gear and they have an SM-1500 head plugged into a Megoliath cabinet so I am tempted to take my Euro there to try it out. That is the Alex Webster setup so I can only imagine what it sounds like

From what you described I think you'll be happy with the hz's. That's the way I would have described them with the haz clone. They get nice and growly mean with the bass n treble boosted full too. The output comes up quite a bit then too.
