I dig A more. B sounded a bit muddy to ears. Just my opinion though.

Hi guys! Could do with some advice.

When my NS-2A arrived in the UK (courtesy of Mr LimaGuy) the action was perfect. But due to the slight climate change from NY to the UK, there is now a very slight back bow in the neck. Which is of course causing a lot of buzzing and a few choked notes.

I've tried turning the rod anticlockwise to add some relief, but it just won't budge. I'm terrified of breaking it so I haven't really added any force (I don't know if it's possible to break a truss rod when loosening it but I've heard of plenty of people doing so when tightening)

Any advice you can offer me?

Got 'em, but forgot to ask if you'd cut them, so I don't think I can use them on the 3+1 USM bass. It has Sperzels, so maybe they'll be close. I like the flats on the Spectorcore, but will try the BBs to hear how they sound. (Like I mentioned, they are the go-to string on my 5s.)

No...they were already cut from a previous owner here...

How's the Spectorcore sound to you? I came close earlier this year to buying one but could find a good sound clip. :ninja: No hear, no buy.

Well, unfortunately, it's sold.

I emailed the guy this morning. We negotiated a price, and even a place to meet. After all of that is agreed, he says, "Oh, BTW, I already have a buyer, but I'll sell it to you at the agreed terms if he doesn't show up."

I recommend cleaning your fretboard now.
I used Dunlop 01 & 02. But the first time I didnt get enough of the grime off. So when they sent the replacement set, I used the 01 again and really cleaned it well.
The seller recommended using alcohol but I didnt think that would be so great to use on fretboard wood.

Remember, these NS-2As are old and there is alot of dirt built up on there over the years.

Also, be very careful when you put them on, I tried my best and I still got 2 that arent lined up correctly. :rollno:

I'll clean it tomorrow, i have a gig tonight and playing at church in the morning, but in reality i'll probably slack on getting them put on :hiding: just how I roll lol

Oh balls. Never mind, I'm sure there will be another along some time. I was leaning towards a black one but I've got my heart set on a white one now - I already have two black basses. White looks so good.

Plus, I don't have to fight to the death with Grendle for a white one :hiding:

I voted A, cut through the mix more, I liked B but it just sat in the mix different, less crisp

Any interest in that blueish color? There is a luthier that I know that just emailed me the other day saying he may be selling his. I think hes owned it since the 80s. And you know that would be in perfect shape.

When I received my ns2a a few weeks ago, it was setup perfectly. However, it had 40-100 gauge strings on it and I prefer 45-105 so I changed them for DR lo-riders in the gauge that I like. Right after the change the action on the bass was higher but still pretty good. A few hours after the change the action was even higher, a little to high for my taste. So I adjusted the action at the bridge and it was perfect again and stayed perfect for several weeks. Yesterday I bought some of those cool neon DR strings. They seem to be a bit floppier than the lo-riders, less tension on the neck. After a few hours the action became to low and started fretting out. Again I did a slight adjustment at the bridge and all is good.

I don't know how helpful this is but I think it is normal for a ns2a neck to move around after a change. I used to a modulus bass, now that neck doesn't move no matter what! You could stand on it and it stays put!
