8-TRACK!!! lol wow! That's dating a timeline hmm :eyebrow:
Cool! When ya can get to it...:rollno:
Have you tried the DR BB's yet?

Got 'em, but forgot to ask if you'd cut them, so I don't think I can use them on the 3+1 USM bass. It has Sperzels, so maybe they'll be close. I like the flats on the Spectorcore, but will try the BBs to hear how they sound. (Like I mentioned, they are the go-to string on my 5s.)

When life gets sane, we'll see about sound clips.

If something like this pops up locally for me, I'm gonna end up getting another Spector. I wish the white one had the block inlays.

duke,
The Red one has the vinyl decals on it.
Very few NS-2A's have real crown inlays.

The vinyl decals, look pretty darn good from a distance and are only $19.95
Oval Style BASS GUITAR MOP Vinyl Decal Inlay Set

I have them on my White NS-2A now.
P.S. if you ever get them, make sure you clean the fretboard really well because I had a sticking issue with the 1st set I got. But the company who sells them has good customer service and sent me a replacement set. ;)

I ordered a set this afternoon for my NS-2A... they said it will ship tomorrow morning :hyper:

You should have them by tuesday.
I recommend cleaning your fretboard now.
I used Dunlop 01 & 02. But the first time I didnt get enough of the grime off. So when they sent the replacement set, I used the 01 again and really cleaned it well.
The seller recommended using alcohol but I didnt think that would be so great to use on fretboard wood.

Remember, these NS-2As are old and there is alot of dirt built up on there over the years.

Also, be very careful when you put them on, I tried my best and I still got 2 that arent lined up correctly. :rollno:

First gig with the Spector was tonight, and I gotta say the comfort level made it so much easier. The small neck and contoured body were a dream, all focus was on playing, not wrangling my instrument around. Not as powerful as my normal high output passive, but the added clarity made up for it I think. Mixed reactions from folks who were used to my normal gigging bass, but most were positive, I think its mostly just resistance to change...and change for the better!

Ok, pics here, gimme a number Trace :)

Oh my word

Dammit. I'd buy the white one right now. But it's not anywhere I could get my hands on it.

Its weird with these NS-2As. The usually come around in groups on ebay. Over the past few months there have been a lot of Black ones and White ones, but nothing lately which means they are due soon. :hyper:

Any interest in that blueish color? There is a luthier that I know that just emailed me the other day saying he may be selling his. I think hes owned it since the 80s. And you know that would be in perfect shape.

Awesome! I just hope that when one comes along that I like, the seller is willing to ship it to me! ;)

I'd prefer black this time around (best for metal haha!) with white as a second choice

Don't know if anyone's posted this:

Basstovsky im also from Mass...are you around southern Mass???

I have another sound comparison.

I am hoping this will be helpful for everyone rather then driving everyone nuts. :bassist: :hiding:

Both of the these are clips of my Euro 4LX with different sets of strings.
Which one do you think sounds best?

Thanks in advance for your opinions. ;)

P.S.
I will have a new sound comparison of the NS-2A later

I voted. That's some great porn music you got there! I like B in the clip, but prefer A for what I do.
