It may or may not, actually. I just really don't like recording with anything besides this bass and I figure it may be worth a shot to see if this would help or more than likely just do what I'd been thinking about and just get a Euro NS-2 and deal. ;)

I would opt to go with a push/pull pot over a switch. I'd be interest to know how you will route the power to the EMGs.

Wow, you get a kidney stone, and are away for a bit, and part 17 has grown like crazy!

Some really gorgeous basses out there! That tone is wicked bassgiant!

Anyway, I have surgery next week - a one day thing - to get the pesky stone out. And I have a Christmas present arriving.

Custom order Spector Forte 4 due late December! Grasshopper is da bomb! :hyper:

Totally stoked. Yeah, people in San Diego still say 'stoked'. lol!

Lima - I've been playing the JAR more recently and loving it. I promise, after the surgery I will do my Spector story! :bassist:

It could help tame some of the "massiveness" when recording, I'd think too. And now that I was thinking about it, I'm pretty sure Johnny A does this on his Spectors (at least the live ones) and just runs straight from the pickups to his Avalon 737 and it sounds plenty big live.

Don't know how that would work. The emg's are active, no power no sound. The pre is active as well, no power no sound. Sounds like more trouble than its worth to do on a 5k bass. The only way I could see is to ditch the pre all together, and run a stacked set of active B/T knobs with an active volume, and a passive vol with a push pull / on off switch. That's keeping the 4 knob setup. No tone control on the passive and the pups both wired full on (the only way I run them anyway lol ). I'd just leave it and tell your sound man to sack up and learn to engineer a real bass for once lol.

I flipflop on the JAR everyday, one day I think I am not digging it, then I love it again.
Have you tried using just the Neck PU and roll all the Treble off and Bass fully up. Gives you a 70's bass sound. :bassist:

Hope the Surgery is as painless as possible, can you bring a Spector with you for the recovery?

Not sure. My brother in law who plays guitar is joining the air force and we are training our new guitarist at the moment. All that on top of finishing our 1st album. I'll let you know if we travel south. Where are you located?

That sounds great man! That is just a monstrous tone you get. There is just something about a drop tuned Spector that makes me start nodding my head and say "yes!"

This is absolutely correct. Active EMG's do not work passively.

I'm hoping the surgery won't slow me down, because I have a gig next weekend, LOL!

I love the bridge sound PU on the JAR and I definitely dig the neck PUP soloed. Nice warm tone. I told Patrick that I was a bit surprised (in a good way) to see the JARs come with brass nuts. And even though it's bolt on, from the side and the top, it really looks like a NT.
