I love the bridge sound PU on the JAR and I definitely dig the neck PUP soloed. Nice warm tone. I told Patrick that I was a bit surprised (in a good way) to see the JARs come with brass nuts. And even though it's bolt on, from the side and the top, it really looks like a NT.

Thats why I was lobbying for you to get that bass, really is a great design and is put togother very nicely and has a different Spector sound. :bassist:

Thats the great thing about that deep set neck bolt on design. With the black and white ones you can barely notice it is a bolt on.

I'm not too sure about the job but I know it has to do with being a combat controller. I think it is like calling in air strikes and what not. Apparently he said only 1 in 6 make it. You know anything about this kind of job?

I got a line 6 x2 from here used for like 75 I think. It's a great wireless. My PGX wireless broke and it was like 399 new I think. I'd heard really good stuff about the line 6 and I can say I love it way more than my old Shure PGX.

I recently inherited a 1989 NS-2A that was pretty poorly taken care of. All of the hardware, including pickups, pre-amp, bridge, knobs, tuners, were either damaged or rusted out beyond salvage.

As of now, it's in the hands of Sims Custom Shop for a refinish to the original bright white.

In the meantime, I need to get the parts together to get this bass back in the game.

I know what pickups, pre-amp, tuners, etc. that I need, but my big question is about the bridge:

What can I use besides the current Professional Series replacement from Spector without doing any routing? The reason I ask is that while the Pro Series replacements are perfect drop-in's according to PJ Rubal at Spector, they do not come with an intonation screw option, and I'd really like to have a bridge I can control all aspects of. Does anyone know of any makes/models whether it's 3rd party or otherwise that can serve as a drop-in replacement on an NS-2A body?

Thanks in advance for any help you can give me.

Seems like you gotten the answer directly from the horses mouth. The lack of intonation screws really isn't that big of a deal.

Yeah you can't get into that as a guarantee. You get a chance to pass the physical in basic. It's tough with 50 guys going for it at once. They jump In with the rangers and are aircraft controllers in air fields set up in hot zones. Training will kill ya. Most guys in it have been in already 4-8 yrs. He should have a guaranteed job though.

Tell him not to be a cop or fireman please. The selection process for them goes like this.....who has a job, raise your hand (half the room does and walks out). Who wants to be a cop? (Half the room raises their hand they go on one side). Who wants to be a fireman? (A few raise their hand and go to their spot). Ok, All the rest of you are cops or you go home...

Imo go for the longest school you can get. It's free and is usually the better job.

I've only been a spector owner for a month (NS2a with the pro series replacement bridge). After my first intonation adjustment, I felt like the screwless bridge design is actually a good one. No problems getting an accurate setup whatsoever. I wouldn't worry about that.

Please let know how the project works out. I'd like do something like that someday.

I do! That's job is a Foward air controller. He will be up front where he will feel the blast of each bomb dropped and sprayed with dirt on his face. I spent 25 yrs. in the Air Force and talked with these guys. Tough job!

The Poplar Burl Euro 6 LX is gone. Headed to Texas. I've got a souped up (DC's and New trim potted Tone Pump already installed) Bubinga Legend 6 coming (ironically from Texas).

Yes, I sold a similar souped up (TW's and OBP-1) Bubinga Legend 6 back not long ago. I just realized I liked the smaller body and lighter weight more. This will also be an upgrade for me over the last Legend for several reasons:
1. I've come to realize I like the Tone Pump more than the OBP-1.
2. I don't care for the TW's and like the DC's much more.
3. This Bubinga model has the Gold hardware rather than the more common Black. I think the Gold looks much better on this particular model.

Probably will contact Dickhead Designs about a brass nut eventually. May even get the router out and eventually add a US or Euro bridge. Who knows........:p

Have not lost track of it since Friday ;) :bassist:

It has departed Secaucus, NJ last night at 10:50, should be arriving at the local depot which is around the corner form my house any moment now, then it takes a 8-10 hour ride around my area as my street is one of the last on the route :crying: (they do business first before residential)
I may be driving the area looking for the UPS truck starting at 8AM :eek: :hiding:

Ha! Don't forget to take your drivers licence for I.D. :)

Or, you could call the depot and ask them to keep it there so you can collect it?

I was considering that, I did that years ago with a shipment I was getting, they said they would hold it.
I get to the depot, they cant find it and tell me we think it went on the truck anyway, then ofcourse I get back to my house and there is a missed delivery sticker on the door....
So I figured I just let it be as it is.

When I ordered my Spector Gig bag a few months back I just so happen to run into the UPS guy while I was in the local cell phone store that morning and he gave me the box.
