that's not bad at all....I'd love an X, even if it limits the reach to the upper frets. I didn't want to pay US prices however to "look cool". $1500 is doable though...

I'm warming to them too. Lack of fret markers is my only holdup, but it's more of a getting out of my comfort zone thing than anything...

I got a line 6 x2 from here used for like 75 I think. It's a great wireless. My PGX wireless broke and it was like 399 new I think. I'd heard really good stuff about the line 6 and I can say I love it way more than my old Shure PGX.

So the Line 6 X2 is alright? I've got some down time for the next few weeks till my hand heels up (burn) and was gonna do some rearranging with my set up.

The only way I could see is to ditch the pre all together, and run a stacked set of active B/T knobs with an active volume, and a passive vol with a push pull / on off switch. That's keeping the 4 knob setup. No tone control on the passive and the pups both wired full on (the only way I run them anyway lol ). I'd just leave it and tell your sound man to sack up and learn to engineer a real bass for once lol.

I tried it (this Forte4) the other day, but to be honest was not impressed. Probably because I'm not a big fan of Aquilar OBP, 'cause I prefer "dirtier" sound of TonePump. I brought my Euro435LX to the studio to compare them and after such test I left the studio with Euro not with Forte...The tone of Forte seemed to be deeper and richer but too "crystal-clean" which I didn't expect from Spector tonalwise. Now I just want to give it a second try on a better amp (last time it was some crappy warwick combo) 'cause that guy made a significant price-drop from $2200 to $1500. Hope I was wrong about the sound so probably I'll become a Forte owner quite soon)

That would actually be good for me...I wouldn't mind that as a change, or different tonal flavor.

It's actually not as bad as you think. I had stopped playing bass for around 8 years and the first bass I bought didn't have the fret markers on the fingerboard. I didn't have any problems adjusting even without picking up a bass for so many years. There are dots on the side of the neck so those were sufficient enough for me to know where I was.

I wouldn't mind it either but I promised to myself to keep just no more than two bases - one fretted and one fretless))) hold on....I think I've just found an excuse for myself for having one extra: I will string my435LX BEAD and keep Forte with regular EADG:D

If I were only playing bass, it wouldn't be an issue. The problem comes when I'm singing background, and I'm playing a bassline that's fairly intricate. With the big crown inlays, I can glance quickly and get my bearings because they stand out so much. I'm afraid with something like the Forte', I'd have to really look at where I'm at sometimes, and that would cause me to pull away or turn away from the mic while singing. I know it's a technique thing that I should have down, but I haven't been singing long enough to have it down, lol. It may not be a problem at all. I just know I've played a couple of shows where the stage was very dark, and I was glad to have those crown inlays.

You could switch out the preamp. You could probably sell the OBP for about the same or more as picking up a used Tonepump. At that price, it's definitely a consideration....

There ya go, see how easy that is? HAHAHA....I've talked myself into a Forte' one day by the fact that the preamp is different.....wow.

I bought one for $100 bucks used, and I'm extremely happy with it. I bought some lithium-ion rechargeable batteries for mine and they last about 15-16 hours before they go dead. Doing a gig off of battery power alone wouldn't scare me a bit. I have no idea how long a regular alkaline would last though. I've read 4-5 hours, but have no first hand experience using the unit with alkaline batteries.

From a sound quality standpoint it's top notch imo, and while I don't get 200 ft. out of mine it's definitely enough for what I do onstage.

I have fallen even harder for the NS-95 after last night's band practice. We have an old Peavey 18" Black Widow Sub that we aren't using and I decided to make a bass stack out of it and my Fender 410 Pro. This bumped up the output of my SWR to 400 watts and gave me the Spector growl with some extreme oomph on the low B string. The drummer was loving it, he could feel the bass better than ever and we were locking in like nobody's business because of it. So now I have a gigantic bass rig, it's taller than me and I'm 6'5"....lol.
