Hey everyone,

I started working on my band's 2nd album already (i know the 1st still isn't out yet....it will be probably this month for sure!!!) I can't help it....i'm a writing and recording fiend! Just thought i would share this new track i recorded the other day. How is my SPECTOR tone on this one?

I need to get a SPECTOR guitar, so i can be completely sold out to them!!!! I haven't played one, but i'm sure they sound great!!!!

Question-
has anyone installed an Active/Passive switch on their USA Spectors, specifically the 18V pres? Am thinking about doing this on Brownie... Would it be easier to do a Push/pull pot or a dip switch?
It could help tame some of the "massiveness" when recording, I'd think too. And now that I was thinking about it, I'm pretty sure Johnny A does this on his Spectors (at least the live ones) and just runs straight from the pickups to his Avalon 737 and it sounds plenty big live.

On a side note I have made plans for my NS-95. I'm going to take Big Red to Dan Erlwine's Guitar Shop for a PLEK job and a set of TI flats. Words cannot express how much I love this bass!!

Computerized, fret level, polish and nut cut I believe. Supposed to give the absolute lowest action possible.

Does your Spector have Active EMG's? If so, I'm not sure that this would actually be an "active/passive" switch but more of an EQ bypass.

Ok then yeah that's a better way to put it I guess. More "technically" correct in that I'd want a preamp/EQ bypass. My NS-5 has 40DC's so they'd still need to be active as well.

Grendle is right on. PLEK is a CNC controlled fret leveling process, what it can do is absolutely amazing. It'll cost about 3-4 bills, but that's how much I love my NS-95. It will never leave me, ever, period.

Is the PLEK worth it? I've heard a ton of good about it but are there any horror stories? My Spector is tied for first on the list of "Things I'd save in a fire", right up there with my wife and dogs.

Adding a bass to the stable seems like a better idea to me.

If I were to do a plek I think I would do it when new , mid way through the fret life or after a refret. My local shop ( guitar factory) only charges $80 for a fret level , polish and setup, they do amazing work. What I would be interested in is just how good it can get with a plek. It would give you a bench mark for optimum action, which would be cool. I would be worried that I would get addicted to the action being that good and need a plek every year or 2 lol. Totally worth it if you love your bass. I'm thinking of having my blue ns2000 refretted with stainless. I'd do a plek on then.

Nicki is a killer bass player, a pretty woman playing a beautiful bass with amazing tone. Can't go wrong
