bassgiant, that sounded really pro. like a major label track. can someone help me confirm the the spector legend classic 5 string from about 4-5 years ago had 40hz pickups? im 99.98% positive.

Good call. Now that I think about it, I didn't have to do much to tune it so there was still a decent amount of string tension. That plus the jostling in shipment and temperature changes probably caused the finish damage.

You're welcome! When I'd get basses shipped from GC I noticed the strings were floppy so I started making inquiry about this practice and that's how I found out.

Aren't the NS-94 and NS-95 both fully contoured just like the NS20004 and NS2005? Similar back contour to an NS-2 body but with differently shaped horns?

The NS-94 & NS-95 have more body contour than the NS-2000's. According to www.spectorbass.com/history

As far as I know, yes. The only models that I've played that aren't are the Performers and Legends which instead of the scooped back have a tummy cut.

Ok...here's an exert from the SPECTOR historical site.
NS-20004(TM) An updated version of the NS-94(TM) Model.

Once more the body was reshaped.

The horns became thicker than on the NS-94/95(TM) models but did not take on the fully rounded profile of the original NS-Bass(TM).

This shape would be used for our flat-body import guitars many more times.

Currently, only the SpectorCore Piezo(TM) model uses this body shape.

We call it the NS-2000(TM) Body Shape.

It is indeed a USA Haz according to PJ.
The finish is pretty beat up I will say, but it plays and sounds excellent!!!!

The bass and treble controls are full. The blend is is set to mid position and the master volume is full.

Everything else in terms of sound comes from my Fractal Audio Axe Fx Ultra. I plug my bass straight into it and then straight into my Delta 44 card. I'm using an Ampeg SVT model amp on the Axe Fx. Bass about 1 o clock, Mids about 10 o clock, and treble between 2 and 3 o clock. Drive is about 2 o clock.

Holy Crap! That tone....I want it...


On a side note, I come to you Spector Elders with yet another question:
I've been playing my new Euro a lot lately. I stopped for a second to play my Rebop and I noticed a huge and unsettling difference in the sound. I'm not sure exactly what it is, but the Rebop sounds dryer, not as aggressive, weaker output, and just...not as awesome as the Euro at this point. I'm thinking it could be one or a combination of these things:
-Dead strings
-The passive pickups (has the EMG HZ's)
-The Pre (has the EMG BQC rather than the TonePump)
-Higher action

So I was thinking of either changing out the HZ's with DC's or changing out the BQC with a TonePump...or changing strings and adjusting the action....or maybe all of em. I'm going for that tone that bassgiant has. Any advice?

Try with new SS strings and a good setup (lower action).

If still not satisfied, swap the HZs with active EMGs.
