so I bought a non Spector today (thunderbird) because I've always wanted to try one out and well it was dirt cheap.

:hiding:

That being said..... its back up on Craigslist because I can't handle not playing a Spector... I mean my performer that I bought in the same price range KILLS this bass.... hands down, no competition, not even trying.

On a side note... not a great pic but i've been enjoying my music room lately..

PS... my choices on Sam's recent survey were very surprising to me... and Sam :hiding:

Wowser!!! :eyebrow: YOU...BOUGHT...A...NON-SPECTOR?!?!?! (Lightening & Thunder crashing all around)
Trace...a flogging is in order!!! :p JK LOL
That really really speaks volumes for even that the least expensive SPECTOR has such high quality!!! Of course that's no surprise to us SPECTOR vets. :smug:
"And let THAT be a lesson to you young man!" :scowl: lol (I couldn't resist)

Don't feel bad brother, I'm a huge fan of T-birds too. I wasn't a huge fan of the "Rex" style SPECTOR but now SPECTOR makes their very own T-bird:

It's the 4X. They make it in a Legend Series for about $600-700 and of course in the USA Forte 4x model for, well out of my price range :(. Because It's a SPECTOR, you know it's going to rock. I'm strongly considering making it my next bass because I've always wanted a T-bird, and if I can get one with Spector quality and tone - it's win-win!

As for Sam's comparo survey, I completely hosed it up! Maybe it was because I was listening to the tracks on my crappy laptop speakers, but with how bad I was, I'm almost embarrased... Sam probably wants to tear up my SPECTOR club card... :(

Sometimes you just need to try other things....

That's when you figure out that Spector is the STD. You measure everything else against. There are some nice basses out there, but their not a Spector ....

Exactly... learned my lesson.. my wife is cool about it.... I've gottent he ok to get me another spector.... looking for the right deal, Sam has been helpful with links......

there is a sketchy deal here locally for a NS-2A, it would be a little project for me. Its $350 has alembic pups and electronics.. The input jack was moved to where one of the knobs was.

Do you think this is a good deal? I have a tonepump I can (and would) put in and I have pots so I could rewire it. I'm just wondering what you guys think

Sam has identified this as a guitar center buy... and the pic on the CL ad supports that.

Let me know what you guys think, I might look at it today if y'all think it would be worth it.... I'm on the wall...

There are a few Rex's at gc for good prices. Different shape, but as soon as you hold it and play it you'll know its a Spector.

Jeff and I were discussing this. We've owned and played a lot of basses, but once you find that spector feel and tone. There's really nothing else to play. Then its just a matter of what color you like lol.

So I was correct, lol I am like the Spector FBI hahaha:D :hiding:

If you can try it out and and confirm the neck is ok and that original input jack isnt plugged up then it could be ok since you already have the tonepump. Dont you also have extra EMGs? But if that input jack is plugged up and there and any neck issue at all stay away, also try to get him down to $300 since its been modified
