I had a Toby Deluxe with a pre that has the exact same board shape, and that pre fits into the Spector cavty perfectly, so I know there are some fakes out there.

I have an NS-2A. I'd love to own a Hazlab pre, but I just can't imagine that Spector would ever use something that would end up on a Mighty Mite website 20-something years later. Are you certain that this is the real thing?

The preamps that looked like that were an asian made copy that honestly doesn't sound like a Haz. I like the sound of them, but it isn't the same.

I'd assume mighty mite is another variation of the import copy.

*I* (can't speak for other people's setups) had the DC in the neck position and the CS in the bridge - I found placing the DC there tamed some of it's "crispier" high-end, while the CS in the bridge gave a nice warm tone that worked well with the DC.

The main problem with DC's in a Spector's bridge position is that it was never suppose to go there - it was originally designed to be placed in the MusicMan sweetspot, which would naturally tame the high-end by having it closer to the neck than right up against the bridge on a Spector.

btw, i think i'm settled on a looking for a tw to put in the bridge spot to go with my new 40p5 in the neck. once i track down a used one at a price i can swing, i'll let y'all know how i like the two together.

To go with Ian's post above, I have had the 40DC at the neck and the 40CS at the bridge. The bass came to me this way and I like it. With both pickups on, it sounds amazing. However, I like to solo the neck pickup and use that for more of a mellow tone and that ain't happenin with the 40DC in the neck spot. So, thanks to the great folks at EMG and their quick-connect (or whatever they call it) wiring, I am going to experiment with swapping them and see what happens. I actually like the 40DC in the bridge position, I had another Spector with two 40DCs and it always worked great for me. But, I like aggressive bass tones, especially from the bridge pickup. And, if it doesn't work, it's easily reversed.

Finally snapped some pics. Here's the Euro 4LX I got yesterday and the Euro 6LX I''ve had for a few months now. I don't think I've ever been happier with my tone and my GAS has never been so tame, lol.

is that the one i currently have per chance???? and i guess i have yet to show it off so heres some "SPECTORS IN ACTION" shots haha...ill take some by itself on saturday gotta show tonight so maybe therell be some more action shots to come

I went backwards and bought a Euro first, sold it and bought the Legend. I just prefer the feel of the Legend over the Euro, especially the neck. The Euro's and Rebops have slightly thicker necks and I didn't care for that.

Pat, you definitely need to look into the Doug Wimbish or Ian Hill signature Euros. Their neck profiles are smaller than the traditional Euros.

I thought just the Wimbish had the thinner neck.

...Or maybe she really does prefer the Legend's neck to the Rebops and Euros- I know I do... Sometimes even over my USA BO's. :hiding:

The Legend necks just feel perfect to me. The Euro was too bulky front to back. Same with the Rebop. I heard from PJ that they were making some Euro's with necks more like the Legends a while back, but he didn't say which ones.

EDIT: I see that the Doug Wimbish model is 1.5 nut width, but I wonder what the depth is like. That's more important to me than the width.

i will say the legends neck is just an unbelievable comfortable neck. the whole bass is all in all...but the neck sets it apart. and then theres the tone. but i could care less if it was the most perfect tone in the world for me, if the neck isnt right, than its not for me at all and the legend nails it. id just have to try around on some euros to see if i could find one that fit the bill

Dear Spector lovers,

I'm now the proud owner of a Spector Euro LX5 Ultra Amber. I'm looking to find a good hard case, however, as you'll know, given the curved body it can be tricky to find one deep enough.

Options seem limited here in the UK (official Spector cases don't seem to be available). I just bought a UK made Hiscox Standard Bass case with a 2.5 inch depth. All other dimensions are great except for the depth, which means that when I close it I can hear it pushing the strings down over the pickups.

My question to you veterans is a) do I risk damaging the bass sticking with this and b) if yes, then do you know of any cases which will be a better fit?
