Spector Club - Part 7

My NS-2A is gonna get a facelift. recently, I put on the stick on Crown Decal "inlays". I ordered a gold bridge from Spector a while back and I just ordered a set of Gotoh tuning machines and Schaller Straplocks. I'll post pics when I get her done.

Here she is with Black Hardware.

Nice! I'm about to do the same thing. I will also replace the pickups, and possibly the preamp.

Many owners will tell you the NS-2A stock preamp (a copy of the spector 9V tone control a.k.a. haz) is one of the best sounding preamps for the classic spector sound. Great little preamp, natural sounding and warm. Lacks a mid control but its up to personal preference, I love mine so just my 2 cents. :D

Maybe this should be a NBD thread. My wife didn't know if I wanted a 4 or a 5 string, so she got me both. Neither of these are huge dollar Spectors, but they are Spector.
The 5 was purchased used and has an 18V preamp, the 4 is brand new- purchased through TB for a screamin deal.
I love my wife!

I went Spector because one of their sponsored musicians is a very good friend of mine and I fully respect his opinion. He's playing tonight in Florida with Bret Michaels, ending his tour as the bass player for BMB and going back to the band that is BMB without the famous front man- Evick- until BMB goes back on tour mid 2011. I thought the Spector folks might want to know that sponsoring musicians does result in sales, but not just because we want to copy or "be like" particular musicians, but because of the respect we have for the talent that got them where they are and the choices they make when they select their equipment. Ray is a fantastic musician in every sense of the word, and more importantly one of the most genuine people I know. He raves about the sound he gets from his Spectors but more importantly he raves about how well they treat him and respond to his needs. Rock on brother Ray, and rock on Spector.

Ok- now to the basses... the Warwick Fortress in the background is getting sold ASAP. The Spector blows it away.

B.O.B. = Bolt On Bass, BTW. Stuart has experiemented with a lot of designs over the years. The B.O.B. wasn't in as high a demand as the Coda is. We sell Codas before they are finished. It's nuts.

BTW: Check the Coda-5 (Serial # 001) that PJ and I had at BPL. I can now say who bought it. They've been caught playing it live. :-)

Yup. I shipped it to him and he played it the night he got it. Loves it from what I hear.

Mike Kroeger owns the first Coda-5.

Anyway, the B.O.B. is VERY rare. If one ever comes available... you should grab it. I've never seen one for sale. But I know three people who own one *outside of SPECTOR.

You guys should really dig around this area of the site more. There's all sorts of answers to questions you may have in there. That's why I built it.

Oh... and I'm looking for a Brooklyn NS-2... but I'd not turn down the right opportunity for an SD-4. I love that bass. ANd they are very rare as well.

Hey Anthony, is that a korean one or a USA one? I own a Korean model exactly like that (minus the inlays), and it's a beast! Just sent it to Jim Fleeting for a crown and polish and full set up, and it should be ready for some more loyal service. Top notch basses.

+1!!! Only had my NS-2A for little more than a month and I love it! It's awesome!!
What strings do you have on yours? I'm using GHS SS FWs.

If you remember, I have lobbied for this ever since being made aware of the new USA bridges when they were still doing the kitty-corner screws like the way it's still shown in the Spector store:

For anybody that cares: Just got a contact back from PJ.
The USA bridges with intonation screws shown on the Spector site were prototypes.
They currently do not have the kitty-corner height screws (like the ones in the link above),
but have the two up front as shown in JPS's pic here:

Lots of new and exciting things I can now talk about...
In preparation for NAMM next week, if any of you like digging into the site and nosing around... you find a bunch of new changes.

First. New models:

The WebCaster Electric Guitar... :-)
The Legend 4X Classic (a Legend Spector-Bird!)
The RXT (Rex's New Telecaster-Style Bass)

Totally Redesigned (and therefore NEW!)...

The ARC6-PRO and PRO-TREM are no longer being made in China. They are being made in our Korean factory. And they are NICE! They are identical in body shape to the USA models now.

ALL ARC6 models are taking the shape/format of the ARC6-B *I have the prototype... Changes are: 1 vol, 1 tone (from 2 vol, 2 tone), The bridge is now a Tune-a-Matic with stop piece. And the wicked sounding Tesla VR60 humbuckers are now standard on ALL models. The USA Models have the Option of Duncans or EMGs.

The PERFORMER IS BACK! No longer made in China (we do nothing in China anymore), this new version of the "Performer by SPECTOR" is a great improvement. Same specs as the PerformerDLX before it was discontinued. EMG SSD and passive tone, single piece maple bolt-on neck. It will now be the entry-level Spector at a retail of under $500.00 And they are really nice!

Some changes... such as color options etc... Mainly on the ReBops. The DLX-FM is only available in Black Cherry and the DLX-EX is only available in Black Stain *both gloss.

This next new may upset some of you. The Legend Custom series has been discontinued. No more set-neck Legends (other than the MK-5 Kroeger Model).

The new 2011 Price List is available on the site.

And yes... if you look at the Price List, there is a NEW SIGNATURE MODEL on the horizon.

Alex Webster of Cannibal Corpse will have a Euro5LX, Gloss black with optional blood splatter/drip paint job *I designed the paint job! How cool is that?

It will come with Blood Red Crown Neck inlays on an Ebony fingerboard and will also feature Dual EMG DC pups and have the EMG BQC Tone Circuit. It's going to be wicked-cool. Some nice options I know you all have asked about in the past. See... we listen!

This model will be introduced at NAMM. So no photos or anything until then. I'm only mentioning it because it is there on the price list. So people will see that it's coming.

As always, I wanted to give you guys, the loyal Spector lovers you are, the first scoop.

Very very cool!! I'm pumped Alex is getting a signature ax! He's been a big time supporter of Stuart's work in the extreme metal industry for a long time so that's a very cool call!

And man that makes me wish I'd have ordered the "Rex Tele" earlier last year so I could have a pre-production run model! :p :D I called Beaver @ BC about that bass from the first time I saw his prototype pics pop up here on TB and PJ quipped back with something like "Wow, geez you already have people asking about that??" LOL. The body looks a little wider though than his main or one of his prototypes. Or I could be wrong... ;)
Either way it looks awesome.

Not that it makes a big difference to me anymore, but it still a bit of a bummer that the Legend Custom series is gone.. :\ Mega bang for the buck right there. Not to say the Classics arent good (I own one myself still).

I am stoked on the X model being offered as a classic. I may get one :) Ive always been drawn to it for some reason.
Question: It says 3 stain options, but there are only pics for 2? Is that typo or is there a third stain option?
