Sorry, it's a typo. It's available in Holoflash Black Gloss and Black Stain (gloss). The same finishes as the REX Professional models. Thanks! I'll fix that.

Apparently 2011 will be the year of Spectors joining the "more frets than you can reach" club. The T-bird style one looks rockin, but that new Rex looks awkwardly chubby...

And the poster child is like...brain melting. I love walnut/ebony combos and that just takes it up a notch :D

I haven't seen the RXT up close yet. I assume there will be one at NAMM. Rex is going to be there. It does look big.

The Forte 5X in the image above... I had it at my office to photograph for a couple of weeks. Played it a couple of times. The 21st - 24th frets are nearly impossible to get to due to the body design. I don't know what to say about that. Other than if you don't usually play around in those frets then it's not an issue. But for me it would be.

And there is no question, my next USA Spector will have an Ebony Fingerboard. Tonally it's a little different than the Pau Ferro, and of course Ebony is prone to cracking, etc... so you have to care for it... it's higher maintenance. But man... it's so beautiful with the abalone inlays.

Looks like I was wrong! The body does indeed look big and phat in that live shot; just a weird angle and his arm is covering up a lot of the upper body. Still looks awesome, IMO. Need to check the list $$ on that badboy.

It's the same bass. The dimensions are the same. This photo is a little deceptive because of the angle that Rex is holding it.

Yep, I really like the sound of Spector but putting 24 frets on a 6LX (my old bass) and only being able to efficiently play only 21 of them is frustrating. There is no reasonable justification for that. Unfortunately I have to play other basses that were cut out to reach them. I keep a Euro 5 around for rock stuff and sometines feel like taking a drum sander to it to remove that extra wood.

The changes are the tone circuit, pups and fingerboard/inlays. And of course the optional blood splatter paint job. :-)

It's funny. You had suggested to email PJ regarding a customer Euro 5 with P/J pickups, and the more I thought about it, the more I was going to inquire about other customer options. Like an ebony fretboard. Or the BQC preamp. And here we have Alex Webster - one of my favorite bassists in metal - getting a signature model with almost exactly the specs I was going to ask about.

I still prefer the poplar burl finish though. :D

Thanks :) Ill be eternally grateful to you and possibly mail you some poutine and bagged milk or anything "weird" that we Canadians, and more so Quebecois, do.
