used from a fellow TB'er actually, its a 2004 model. the previous owner relocated the strap pin. Not sure if its better or worse since I had no chance to experience the original pin location, but it seems to work fine. Balances well.
Cool, I'm still reluctant to drill a hole in mine just incase it doesn't help. It's already got hipshot ultralights and actually balances pretty well. I'd call it "neck heavy" not divey.
My neighbor plays T-Birds and uses a seatbelt style strap. I don't know how he does it. Let go of the neck and the headstock hits the carpet!

That pickup combination would probably sound pretty good. Keep in mind that everybody with the TW pickups complains that there is a 50% volume drop in single coil mode.
I can foresee some issues with the pre. First off, the BTS control is just a 2 band bass and treble. You might be thinking of the BTS System which is the four pot setup.
Now, to make it more complicated, if you are planning on going with the TW pickups your best bet would be to stick with the two volume arrangement with the bridge volume being a push/pull (the TW's should come with a push pull pot) to utilize the single coil option. Dual volume would be ideal here so you can compensate for the volume drop in single coil. You can then add the BTS control for your tone shaping if you want.
I think that if I was in your shoes I would leave the tone pump in for now and start by swapping the pickups. All you have to do is change out the volume pots. The HZ's are passive and use 500K pots. The DC and TW's use 25K volume pots which they will come with.

The p'up combination is this one because i'll get em from a friend's bass and give him the HZs. (He's mostly a guitarist and doesn't mind to "downgrade" )
Since i know that the TW has a push/pull volume pot, that's why i'm thinking of the BTS control and not the BTS system.
Thing is that i won't do the job myself, i'll take it to a pro. Just want to be able to give him some guidelines to save some of his time hehe.
What i'm mostly asking for is if the BTS pre will make quite a difference, or if i could stay with the Tonepump (which i don't hate as most people do, but maybe cos i haven't had smth better so far).

It fits my playing much better than my old Fender did. I am very happy I switched.
Neck dive really bugs me too, and my Fender did a whole lot of that... The spector is very well balanced, and while I wish it was a few pounds lighter (its 9lbs), its still a good 3 pounds lighter than my Fender was!
This was never my bass, but I've done this to every single Spector bass I've owned over the last 20 years.
I've always felt the bass rides better, balances better and I like the way it "hugs" me with the button dead center rather than offset.
Always drill a guide hole (slightly smaller than the screw, obviously) rather than have the screw self tap it's own hole as you don't want to risk splitting the wood or a laminate seam.
If you have a gloss finish, take your time with very slight pressure as you don't want to chip off a piece of finish around the new hole.
I know Im a little behind, but damn that Fodera Spector is absolutely beautiful.

I'm kind of surprised that this one made it to ebay. You would think that there would be industry insiders after this kind of thing.
There are/were other manufacturers doing it before Spector. B.C.Rich did it both ways on many of their models.

It belongs to PJ Rubal. The neck was completed in 2008 but PJ decided to look for some special wood for the wings.
This past January at NAMM he found what he was looking for.
He purchased a block of highly figured solid Walnut Burl.
The bass was completed on Monday, boxed and shipped to me for photos.
It's absolutely breathtaking. The body, the solid walnut... looks almost exactly like the Water Cured Redwood.
And that neck is incredible.
It won't get played... at least by me. I'm handling it with soft cotton gloves and am taking care to not get a scratch or fingerprint on it.
Once I get macro photos of all the incredible inlay work by Larry Robinson, I'll pack her up to her final destination with PJ.
The 40th is right around the corner. Can't wait to see what Stuart comes up with this time.

I ended up setting the knee frequency at 8 kHz. It's the highest but also seemed the least "zingy" and harsh. Choices are 2.5, 3.5, 5.0 and 8.0kHz.
I am starting to see a BIG problem with this pre......

I did the 5.0, but then again, I likey the clicky
yes it has a big difference in the sound between a carbon and a brass nut, more bright and punchy for the brass. Personnaly I love the brass nut

That is the craziest walnut I have ever seen!
I make knives as a hobby and have seen lot's of cool woods but that takes the cake for walnut!

It is the sickest walnut burl I've ever seen. And like I said, the figuring is as complex and beautiful as the figuring on my water cured redwood NS-4.
Of course the neck is really, really incredible. And I love that the fingerboard is ebony. It really sets off the work in the inlays.
Because this bass was just completed it has the new USA Spector Bridge with intonation screws. I think this makes it the only NS-230 with that bridge.
PJ has a mind-blowing collection of one-of-a-kind and rare Spectors. It's really cool he's letting me shoot this one before he even sees it.
