Thanks JP...Side by side the only difference I heard (and I played them for a long time) is the BEM is a touch brighter..I believe the matte finish helps it not to be so much brighter..
On another note..I am looking to move my NS4..Mint/Perfect condition 2006..Can't get used to the hand placement with the humbuckers..$2400 shipped

You seem to be after a dual humbucker configuration (Spector NS4) as you've shown or mentioned one of those. But your mention of wanting a "SSD era" leaves some other options. Whether they were Dual, PJ or JJ, in the "SSD era" all USA NS basses were NS4's.
The dual humbucker USA NS 4-string was always an "NS4", regardless of era.
FWIW, jtarmino's NS4 is a Spector, not an SSD era (if that matters to you).
Now, isn't that a fortunate event?

Thanks... Two things... Phat is correct. All NS-2 type models in the SSD Era (1992-1998) were called NS-4. There were 330 total made.
These had the following pickup configurations: P/J, J/J and Dual Humbuckers.
So... the question I have is which pickup config are you hunting for?
I'd agree that the SSD Models are at the core, are no different than the current USA models. They are made in the same place... on the same machines (for the most part). The quality has gotten better in time simply because Stuart has done more and that experience shows.
The only real difference is the headstock and the bridge.
If you want an SSD NS-4 with P/J pickups... the current NS-2 models are the same.
If you want an SSD NS-4 with dual humbuckers then the current NS-4 is what you want. And the one that's on this page is a beautiful example of current NS-4's.
My NS-5XL is from the SSD era but can't say it's better/worse than the current or older US stuff. It's all amazing.
I agree. The difference is headstock emblems and the bridge. That's it. Some minor differences in the machining. Different neck inlays (SSD have MOP) current are Abalone.
It'll be easier to find a more current model. But if you truly want the SSD. Hold out and wait. I'm doing the same for a Brooklyn NS-2. Who knows?
It's a nice solid walnut model. But pearl dot neck (the crown inlays from this era are more in demand).
All NS-bodied 4-string neck-thru models. The NS-5 and the NS-6 (six string bass... not the NS-6 electric guitar from the Kramer Era) were introduced during this time.

I apologize..I didnt raise the price in 3 minutes..It was a typo that I caught..I am asking $2400 and it is worth every penny but we can talk..It's an awesome bass.

Ive got a little buzzing issue on my Legend 4 classic. It appears to be coming from the P pup, cause when I touch it, the sound (being the buzzing) gets way worse and much louder. The J pup seems unaffected.

Hey guys, I just wanted to pop in and express my new found love for Spector basses.
I have played for 25+ years and have had up to as many as 10+ basses in my stable at any one time. I have always had mostly US and Japanese Fender P's and J's, American Peavey's, and then some random pieces to try and flip. gig basses have almost exclusively been US and Japanese P basses. I got a NS2000/4 in a swap / flip deal and could not believe it was a Korean made import bass. It sounded great, played like butter, and was really comfortable on the body. I took it as a backup to a gig, pulled it out in the 3rd set and was told by my band mates not to put it down the rest of the night. It became my number one (strung with TI jazz flats) and I bought a NS94/4 as a backup. These two neck thrus are unbelievable and I am now working on a deal to add a Legend 4 P/J to the arsenal. I just sold my last Japanese Fender, and am now down to my 2 Spectors with the third on the way and huge gas for a Spectorcore fretted.
I know I don't have the high end Euro or US made Spectors so I am not looking 4 membership to any Spector clubs; I can't even imagine how good those things must be, if these little imports play this well. I just wanted to say I'm a big fan and it's gonna be a long time before any other manufacturer gets a bass under my fingers

Welcome to the club. There's absolutely nothing wrong with the NS2000's, Legends, and other "lower end" (a term used lightly) Spectors. Most are of superior quality and sound compared to many in similar price ranges. But the Euros and the US basses are just outstanding all around pieces of art. You'll find that most of us have numerous Spectors and it sounds like you've got your own collection started. That contrary to a majority of other bassists owning a couple of different brands and never really being completely satisfied with any of them. Seems like something's always missing.
