Spector Club - Part 9

Hey everyone, mind if I join?

Just got my first Spector (Legend 5).

Question: can anyone recommend a good aftermarket case that fits the Spector NS body style? Not convinced that the Spector case would stand up, as such, I need a good molded case.

Beautiful looking Legend 5 custom!
Welcome!!! :D
I have 2 Spector cases and they're holding up just great. I'm on the road 4-5 days a week gigging.

There isn't much neckdive on my Rebop. None when I wear it across my chest. It's easily the lightest bass I've ever played, as well.

My former Rebop 5 weighed less than my NS-2A! Alder vs. solid Maple body...plus neck-thru adds some weight I suppose.

Chris' Guitars in New York. Thought it was a Euro 4,but it is an NSCR 4 with quilt maple wings.

That was an awesome find! You're not disappointed that it's not a Euro4 are you?
I noticed your avatar says Grand Funk...are you a band member or just a fan?

im wondering if any of the spector owners have a dual J pickup configuration and can comment on the tone. i have another bass with 2 J's that im going to replace. the bass already has an emg preamp, so im considering just dropping in a couple of emg j's (love the emg pj's in my spector) otherwise ill go with some nordstrands. any comments?

Almost an NS2J Pup config....except the soapbar in the J pos. Would like to hear it. Post an audio file, please.:hyper:

on a side note... better shore up that bookshelf before it falls over..

Thanks, I will try to remember to clean my office next time I take pics, and ESPECIALLY before I invite the internet over... ;)

In my cover band, I'm running it thru a PodXT Pro, lining directly into a Jamhub. Sounds amazingly clean, and on that modeler, I've only played with a couple of models I like on another bass (a friend's Alembic Orion), and it sounds just as good (if not better) with the Spector (IMHO).

In my original project, am running it thru a relic 1980 Peavey Mark III, into a Hartke 410 Transporter and a Community 2x15 sub. Am not convinced that I like the sound running thru that rig, the Peavey has a little too much warmth. The attack doesn't quit, the pickups I noticed right off the bat have a noise cancelling effect, I've got active pups on another bass, but never EMG HZ's prior to getting this one.

Never the less, the (cover) guitarist is in charge of cutting up the jamhub recordings, I have not yet received this past weekends archives, will be happy to post up so you can hear it.

well i'm proud to post that i am new to the spector club! just got my rebop over the weekend from a very good friend of mine who works for a spector dealer, and got my a ridiculous deal...

it's a beautiful 5DLX in cherry red. here's a (not so fantastic iphone) picture of it hanging on my wall:

i love the bass so far, everything about it screams quality and it's a treasure to play. my only gripe is with the kind of ugly knobs, but i'll be replacing em with these sexy little guys: [Invalid or Expired Link Removed]

i'll also be re-stringing it EADGC instead of the low B, and doing a nice setup. can't wait to gig this sucker!

...

If you dont mind me asking, where in Montreal did you pick this up? Ive been searching for a shop that carries them so I can try different models out...

Steves no longer carries them, Ive only seen 1 Euro 4LX in there since sometime last summer...
The only other place Ive seen them recently is Guitar Plus, but theyre mostly limited to Koreans save one Euro 5LX at one point.

I brought out my NS2JA this weekend with the double J's. It has a little more 'crispiness' (?) than my PJ versions, but some of that may be the Hazlab pre. I guess you could say the sound isn't quite as thick, but still great. YMMV....

Not sure if you realize from the above statement,
but EMG-Hz's are passive. Only your preamp in that bass is active.

At least you've got the Hz's though, which IMHO are far superior to the SSD's that are in most Legends.
