If you dont mind me asking, where in Montreal did you pick this up? Ive been searching for a shop that carries them so I can try different models out...

Steves no longer carries them, Ive only seen 1 Euro 4LX in there since sometime last summer...
The only other place Ive seen them recently is Guitar Plus, but theyre mostly limited to Koreans save one Euro 5LX at one point.

i got mine directly through my friend, not through a store. BUT, right now steve's has a 4-string rebop - exactly the same as what i got, except 4 instead of 5-strings and a different finish. i tried that bass to make my decision about the rebop, and then got mine through my friend. so i definitely suggest you head down to steve's and check it out!

Not sure if you realize from the above statement,
but EMG-Hz's are passive. Only your preamp in that bass is active.

At least you've got the Hz's though, which IMHO are far superior to the SSD's that are in most Legends.

LOLWUT?

Got it, thanks for pointing that out. This is my first bass with ANY EMG's. I've never liked them on my guitars, am more of a Seymour Duncan guy. I do like what I hear from my Spector with the HZ's though.

:hyper:

Alrighty, thanks for the hit my friend!

Speaking of new prog-metal releases, and slightly more on topic, the new Protest The Hero video that came out yesterday features a Zebrano ReBop 5. The video is for C'est La Vie, and like all their videos it's done quite well.

That is indeed a great video. I love their new album. I reviewed it favorably. I like being able to hear the bass better in this one...

I'm a proud owner of a "New/Old Stock" NS-95 SSD, Trans Red! Talked with guitar store about the story behind this. He said a guitar shop closed up and his store bought up most of the stores inventory. This one and a black NS-95 was sitting in stock room unopened from original manuf. Shipping boxes. Untouched, unplayed, and never sold or registered. How cool is that!

JPS - would I be able to register it?
Now the growing pains of waiting! It'll be worth it!!!

Phat- eBay reimbursed my $$$ today for that brand new Euro 5 LX that I bought on eBay back on the 5th...that never got shipped. :( I was thinking of you last night when I saw on CL LasVegas a gorgeous Euro 5 LX beautiful FM med. blue! I called the guy to see if he'd ship it to me but he said that he preferred not to go through the hassle of packing, insuring and shipping. If I really wanted it I could've talked him into shipping OR maybe if I knew somebody in Vegas ;D that'd ship it for me...but he said it has some dings and scratches but the picks looked great and the price...$800.00! Lol But I got a great price on a new/old NS-95 instead. Peace!

Small World. I'm the original owner of that bass.
It's an NS5CRFM in Blue Stain. One of the first to be 35" scale with inlays of the Czech 5 strings. I bought it new from the old Musician's Friend Store (later converted to a Guitar Center) in 1999, because Darryl Williams (the Darryl Williams now endorsing Carvin. He was a friend working there at the time) got me a great deal. I traded it around 2001 for 2 other basses. When it resurfaced on Craig's a couple of months ago, I knew from the pix it was my old bass. I also know the guy who has it now, although it's passed through a few hands since then.

If you want it and want to cover the packing and shipping expenses, I can arrange it.

No kidding! Lol That's too funny Phat! Small world indeed! Thank you for your generous offer but now after buying the New/Old NS-95 I don't have the cash. :(
Bummer! I had thought in contacting you last night about it but didn't want to impose on ya. Thank you again Phat! That's mighty gracious of you. Wow! What a small world. Cool background story!
Peace!

No problem. It works for me anyway as I have a standing offer with him for $600 if he can't move it soon. ;)

Well that sounds like a sweet deal for you Phat. If I thought I could sweet talk the little lady at home and squeeze another $800.00 out of her Irish/Scottish hands I'd jump on it myself but...there's other priorities pressing right now. Lol
For what I sold my Rebop5 for I was able to get the NS-95 without forking out $$$ out of the pocket. Cheers Phat!

New bass alert! NS 2JA-R!

No "real" pictures of it yet. Just a quickie from photobooth. Will probably post a real "review" of it soon with some better pictures. Dont mind the mess in my room either. ;)

Initial reaction: HOT DAMN. Such a gorgeous and slick bass. The neck is smooth and buttery, as per usual. I wasnt sure what to expect with a solid candy finish, but it seems quite nice as of yet. Well see how it goes when I get sweaty and greasy on stage.

Aesthetically its in perfect condition save a thin brownish scuff mark on the top side of the neck by the 5th fret. Its no big deal, I might be able to clean it off, but regardless, its hardly noticeable and doesnt affect the playing at all.

I cant wait to get this plugged into my rig and open it up! I may lower the pickups a bit, the band I plan on using this in is heavier, and I tend to move around and rock out quite a bit. I also use a pick and strum pretty hard, I dont want to be mashing my hands all over the edge of the pups!

Pic for now:

Pretty sure that's an either\or situation.

Technically, there actually is Quilt/Flame out there, just don't see it much. The grading of the wood is lowered as a result. It doesn't really look as good, unless you're going for an off the wall look (I know of a few Prs guys that have some tops like that).

But there is also some rare "flamed" maple that is also quilted:

Holy crap that grain is mesmerizing!
Supposedly, It's one out of 1000 trees that exhibits that figure.

This would be one of the quilt/curly tops, that I was referring to, the grade drops signifigantly:

Been a fan since the first record. Mel is the reason I play bass.

Cool! I see Mark and his wife Lisa quite a bit up here in northern Michigan. Very beautiful people! When his new album came out about 3 years ago he gave me and some of my friends an autographed CD.
