Was it hard to find a distributor that carried the white pickups?
I looked around for an ivory colored P pickup for a while and it was pretty slim pickings.

Actually the problem I am actually dealing with in that picture is

A) it's not tuned at all

Could be, but your strings look tight enough that I doubt bringing it to pitch will get rid of that much over silk.

As far as the knobs/pots....
I don't think they'll effect your tuning or string length.
