I sometimes see what LOOKS like a Legend Custom but has ALL gold hardware and the salesman can't seem to tell me what model it cause the tag is gone and/or "it's been here a long time"...
I look on the website but, a lot of the time I don't see there what I have in my hand at the time. Kinda frustrating to not know WHAT you're buying...

But it only has current models. In the situation you just mentioned... a Legend with gold hardware... there were some earlier models with bolt-on necks and gold hardware.

The Legend Customs have been discontinued so they are not in the new (current) catalog. They have set necks... that's the main difference. That and a different tone circuit made by EMG.

You can always get a Legend bolt-on and order gold hardware if you want.

The best thing is if you have any specific questions, ask your dealer.

Well, I thought asking my dealer was the answer , too... but....
One that I saw was a neck-thru with soap-bars and all shiny gold (not the brushed Euro type) hardware. looked like an L4 custom .. but then not really.
Then he said it was about ... i don't remember if he said it was, an 06 or 02 model year...

the Spector is a four string and the Pedulla is an et 5.. I never play four any more and although I planned on keeping the Spector. I couldn't pass on the Pedulla. I have wanted one of these since I played one in 93..

That is one nice looking REX bass!!! And signed!? Rex's tone is one of the main tones that drew me to Spector basses.

Have fun with that bass!!!

But seriously, I'm not sure sure if I'm very good at describing tone, but I'll try. It has a strong low mid sound to it, not muddy at all. With the piezo, you can get a very organic, acoustic tone. With the tone up all the way on the piezo, you will get a lot of finger noise as well as a very full tone. Harmonics ring out nicely and you get a nice mhaw on the higher strings. If I get a chance, I'll try to do some sound clips, but I will be pretty busy Friday and Saturday. The only recordings I have of it are videos of me playing it with a full band.

Hope to hear/see some of the videos/clips you mention, many people in here have held off buying a spectorcore because noone seems to know what they sound like, stores just dont stock them at all... :hmm:

so please help us by showing us! :D

I know right?! I seen one on eBay guitar central was selling for $999.00 new and just about grabbed it but more $$$ than what I was looking at spending. /: I love holoflash! But limited re-sale market...

I heard a YouTube video of the Coda5 and I love the tones! Seen a blue one on eBay for $1700.00 but out of my price.
Yours a beauty! Nice find! :D Now you can change out the EBMM off your avatar. :O

I agree with you the tones are wonderful. Below is what I posted today to a CODA Bass thread that I found here on TB. If you could have gotten one for $1,700.00 (even used), that would have been a heck of a sweet deal!! :smug: You're right, I may just have to change my Avatar at some point!! ;)

Happy CODA Bass owner here!!..............I never even heard of the Spector CODA Bass model, but just happened to come across one this week on a business trip. This thing is still new to me, but is the most amazing Jazz bass that I have ever played!! It is a vintage Fender type J-Bass, so don't let the fret count fool you, this bass is very capable! Someone also mentioned the stacked knob looking out of place...........This bass is active, so it has the extra controls. It is actually active/passive with a push/pull control pot. Let me tell you the Aguilar Pre-Amp and Pick-ups kick butt. Turn up the the outer control knob on the stacked Pre-Amp control and you will have the "thickest" sounding Jazz bass you ever heard!! This bass is truly amazing, if you like J-Basses, this is one to try!!
