Happy CODA Bass owner here!!..............I never even heard of the Spector CODA Bass model, but just happened to come across one this week on a business trip. This thing is still new to me, but is the most amazing Jazz bass that I have ever played!! It is a vintage Fender type J-Bass, so don't let the fret count fool you, this bass is very capable! Someone also mentioned the stacked knob looking out of place...........This bass is active, so it has the extra controls. It is actually active/passive with a push/pull control pot. Let me tell you the Aguilar Pre-Amp and Pick-ups kick butt. Turn up the the outer control knob on the stacked Pre-Amp control and you will have the "thickest" sounding Jazz bass you ever heard!! This bass is truly amazing, if you like J-Basses, this is one to try!!

Hope to hear/see some of the videos/clips you mention, many people in here have held off buying a spectorcore because noone seems to know what they sound like, stores just dont stock them at all...
so please help us by showing us!

Spectorcore Fretless 5 Soundclips
I apologize for any spotty intonation. Bass is recorded direct to Audacity through a ZOOM H4N interface, no effects. Recorded as WAV and converted to mp3. Just random noodling based around the key of D. Each time I start on the low D on the B string.
First part is both pickups equal, tone all the way up. Next is both pickups equal tone halfway. Then EMG-HZ tone all the way up, EMG-HZ tone halfway, then Fishman piezo tone all the way up, Fishman piezo tone halfway, finally a little snippet of root-5 doublestops: both pickups, full tone on EMG tone rolled off all the way on the Fishman.

I played a Euro NS2 today...got a question for you guys in the know...the neck felt rather round and fat. Are they all like that? it was not very comfortable to play and I have been thinking about getting one but my thoughts will change if they are all like that.....

The Euro IAN HILL SIGNATURE model has a specially designed narrow neck for people who want the thinner (front to back) neck profile.
I own several Euro and USA Spectors and the neck thickness doesn't really bother me. I played basses with much thicker necks and thinner as well.
Sorry I don't have the measurements for the Ian Hill Model.

Quick question. Im looking for another 6 string bass, and im considering a spector. The bodies look somewhat small, and i was wondering if they have problems with neck dive?
Actually no, I don't.
Mine hangs pretty well balanced on a 3" leather strap.
3" is a as thin as I would go on a bass, anyway.
Oh you said 6 string... I don't know but my 4 string is OK, I haven't heard anyone else really complain about neck dive on a Spector 6 that I recall. But body type may have an affect on that (the player's). Is there dealer around close you can go try one out?
Signed? nope, that would be nice. The guy at Guitar Center who was talking to me about it kept talking about Down and Rex, but I wasn't listening to a word he said... I was in love.
The only thing I don't love about this bass is the ergonomics.
When I play it standing up with a strap the neck sticks out in front of me, and it's a struggle to pull it back to where I can see the strings.
Sitting down is a little better, but how am I supposed to rock out if I'm sitting down?!
