Spector Club Pt. 4 (Insert Clever Title Here)

I had one. I really regret selling it. It played and sounded great. If the B didn't sound right it was probably the strings or the set up. If you decide not to get it, can you PM me the location? I might take it if you don't! :bassist:

Had an Amber NS5CRFM for years and yeah it was pretty killer. No low B flub even in the least.

DR strings and a good setup might have been the culprit... ;)

Has anyone ever seen a spector like this? I was browsing Guitar Center's used website and came across this. It sure doesn't look like the typical body shape that Spector uses. The listing says VINT 1977 SPECTOR SB1 USA HANDMADE.

I saw that too while searching.

I've seen some 77/78's before and it looks pretty legit.

IIRC I think the "traditional" NS-style bass didn't come around til like maybe 81 or so? If not before.

About 100 of these were made between '75-'79.

The NS body shape as we know it started with the NS1 in '77.

I could have snagged an SB1 in a pawn shop here a few months ago for about $700. Problem was the body wings were starting to separate from the neck plank and some one had ripped out and filled the frets. I passed.

Hey Stuart and PJ....how about a reissue? :hyper:
One of these would be killer as an unlined fretless with a single TW in the bridge position.

I'm starting to drool. :p

Yep, it's an SB1 from the mid 70's. Here's mine, with a DiMarzio Model 1 in it.

The SB1 is the bass that Gene Simmons' black Spector with white edging (used from 1976 on...) was based on (with the horns sharpened off)....

Yup. Love it :) I bough a Legend Custom 5 years ago and hated it so much that I wouldn't even consider another Spector... until one day I was in a music shop and the only non-Fender they had was a US NS-J2. It was so good that I bought the NS5-H2 the next week.

Awesome.

I've had quite a few Spectors over the years, and hated the small spacing on the 5's. i'm about to order the H2 with the WIDE spacing and I can't wait to test it out!
