Question for guys using heavier gauge strings:
What's the heaviest set you've used on your Spector? I need a new set for both my NS2 and my NS5 I have coming in but I don't want to get something too fat that won't sit right on the brass nut or the bridge. I'll be tuning both to drop C or variations of them (no comments please my Spector friends...), CGCF on the 4 and ACGCF on the 5, so was looking at the DR DDT .55-.115 set for the 4 and .55-.135 for my NS5 but wasn't sure if they'd fit properly or not.
.60 - .145 on my NS5CRFM right now. The bridge is open so it fits, even the .145 which is much bigger than the hole (just snap the very tip into the corner)
The only thing being .145 is too thick to intonate properly as the bridge is not 36" back, only 35"
Try .140 and tell me your results, if it won't work .135 may be the limit.

Check with your dealer about ordering solid white or black Euro models. Those are a "yes" according to PJ.

Well if that's the case I'll spot for the .135's as I know those work fine as that's the set I had on my ex-MTD. That's about as heavy as I like to go on strings, though.
I have a LOT of respect for this bass even though it's no longer mine.
You got rid of this? Man. I bet that hurts to think about... You had a piece of history with this beauty. Thanks for sharing.

If you're gonna drop just buy singles. I have .60, .85, .95, .120, .145
Just get .55 .80 .90 .115 .135

You're very welcome bro. Who better to understand the significance of "this piece of history" than the bros who CONSIDER it as such ! It was an exceptional instrument. The neck was porn! The tone was ear melting & playing comfort was something I will not soon forget.

The Low End has a BEAUTIFUL red Kramer-era NS2 in very, very nice condition for close to that figure... I want it myself, but the Aussie dollar has dropped too much recently to make it affordable.
