Spector Club Pt. 5 (Insert Clever Title Here)

Status
Not open for further replies.
Has anyone ever modded/upgraded a SpectorCore????

Yes, but nothing huge.

Replaced the HZ pickup with an SGD ND-3, went to flat strings and added a Hipshot Drop-D tuner.

Installation of the pickup was literally a five-minute job since SGD uses the same quick-connect fittings as EMG.

It has a broader sound now. With the piezo bridge, the tonal palate is very wide, from extremely bright to very deep. Fits very well with acoustic instruments. Not a chameleon, by any means, but more usable in more different settings for me.

Another Spector Clip from my highly classified secret location o_O

It's not a finished product by any means, I was just screwing around. I like the general idea of it though. It reminds me of a...field with strawberries. :p

EDIT: 5 minutes of blank audio at the end, ignore.

I've been listening to them for about 3 weeks lol, I'm not used to playing such hard songs + I don't have a 5 string or songbook =p. I've gotten about 90 seconds on Alaska down, Foam born A and Need for Repetition done. They're so fun to play

You sure you've got Foam Born A? There's not a single correct tab on the internet. I can send you a Guitar Pro 5 file of what I have transcribed up to halfway through ants of the sky, just PM me your email.

I didn't know that about the SGD's. I'm pretty happy with the tone of my SpectorCore Fretless 5 with the HZ in it, but am curious as to other options. If it is that quick a job and easily reversible, I might have to give it a go. I get a wide range of tones now by varying the level of the piezo relative to the magnetic pickup and by adjusting the tone of the piezo.

That is so beautiful. I think I am going to cry.

Who do I need to see about getting a club membership?

There are two options:

1) Post a pic of your Spector and put "Spector Club" in your sig (or something to that effect)

2) Someone takes initiative and starts handing out numbers. If Ray comes back then he can resume his duties of handing out numbers to those who desire them.

I must have seen it a dozen times.

Go check the first post of Spector Club Pt. 3 (Insert Clever Title Here). I learned to just let it go.

Obviously, there are some blanks. Is this your number? Step forward and be counted. :D

As far as issuing new numbers, I feel the best way to approach it is to do PM's first followed by requests within the threads. If you have the original PM to Spector Ray, forward it to me.
