Spector Club Pt. 5 (Insert Clever Title Here)

Hey guys,

Will have some sound clips up of my NS5CRFM tomorrow. My guitarist and I are doing a cover of the entire Colors Album by Between the Buried and Me (maybe you won't like the vocals but the musical genius is undeniable)

We figured it would seriously skyrocket our abilities so we set out to do it.

After this we will move onto a few of their other songs from the second set of the DVD

Anyhow, I have the first takes of part 1 and part 9.

They're alright. Part 9 had a mistake throughout one measure - will need to retake spots here and there. Part 1 had some serious monitoring issues where I could hear myself and BARELY anything else. I missed my cue on the best part twice, and eventually had to stop cause I was totally lost.

Cannot upload tonight cause i'll be going to sleep soon - exams tomorrow.

I KNOW this is a bass forum before any of you throw anything sharp or heavy at me...

I was a 6-string player originally. I'm picking up a USA Strat tomorrow from a friend who has to let it go... I'm getting an awesome deal. Anyone ever play an ARC6? I'm thinking about it... just because I'll always want at least one 6-string around.

Ill be interested in hearing it. I love that album and Dan is one of biggest inspirations stylistically.

It may not show with my current skill level... but heck, ive got both tab books and attempt things once in while hahaha
I just dont have the musical history that man has. At the very least, I have a bass that looks kinda like his :)

Yes, JohnnyMac's bass looks much more like my old NS5CRFM in Blue Stain.

Wasn't funny at the time, but when I ordered it from the Musician's Friend store (later converted to a Guitar Center) through Darryl Williams (yes, the Darryl Williams in the latest Carvin catalog, he used to work there), they had to ship it to me from the warehouse. Unfortunately they labeled both "Blue Stain" and "Black Stain" as "BS" on their forms.
Guess which bass showed up first. :eyebrow:

You don't want to do this... by yourself as a DIY Project. Either send it back to Spector or to a "Qualified Restorer" such as Mike Lull or [Invalid or Expired Link Removed]. ;)

Also interesting is this "Black Blueburst"/"Blue Stain" color renaming. When the Custom Order for my ReBop 5 DLX FM Lined Fretless went horrible wrong (I've written about it enough not to recite it again here - that's what the "Search" is for! :smug: ) and the Wait time for it was essentially doubled from what I was quoted, PJ was able to do a solid by not only changing the color I had ordered it in (by that time I ha piked up a fretted model locally in the same finish) but also having it done in a color that at the time wasn't available on the ReBops - essentially a Custom spray since the order process was starting from scratch and could be changed. As a "Sister" to my Black Cherryburst I asked it he would be able to have it sprayed "Blueburst", and the color that I eventually received is almost exactly to what's now known as "Black Blueburst" (i.e. a Transparent Blue stain with a fairly wide Black edging) which was fine by me, as it was much closer to my fretted "Black Cherryburst" and what I was hoping it to be.

...but as my "Black Blueburst" was done over 2 1/2 years ago, it simply seems that along with the new website they're also taking the time to "reorganize" some color names that have been doubled or tripled-up with slight variations: much as "Amber" = "Ultra Amber" = "AmberBurst" depending on the website.

Get the fixed bridge/TOM version as the trem version is a nightmare to keep tuned as it is essentially a less useable floyd rose trem... without a locking nut.

Apart from that it sounds quite nice, the Tesla pickups are quite versatile for most things, though IMO, the guitar itself feels quite like a bass, haha!

It's nitro lacquer, for crying out loud. I think I know how to work nitro...

The "Spector USA 9v" Preamp on spectors website.. Is that the Haz-Lab? AS i'm quite after that early Eddie Jackson tone, I think that pre-amp would be perfect to but in an Euro / Euro LX.. (now, If only they could get a Black Euro 4 Bridge in there too...)

Will the US bridge fit on an Euro-made bass?

Dan and Arif are really my only inspirations. Any influence i had from Justin Chancellor is long gone.

Both spector guys too. ;D

Going to retake them - part 1 had some serious monitoring issues and my time is choppy in parts, as well as missing the progression riffs twice.

I have line 6 POD Farm 2, how can I emulate this with the 800RB-II head they have available? My sound clips are still tone-works in progress as I have to use an 800 model

I mess up around 0:53 and two spots after that - one I don't bend far enough. The other I just slightly miss the harmonic. I try to sharpen it by shaking my headstock, somewhat works.
