Spector Club Pt. 5 (Insert Clever Title Here)

Does anyone have one of the Korean Rex Brown models? I'm thinking about picking up a 4 string version and I wondered how the balance is.

Balance as in it is a neck-diver?

The MK Signature and the Rex models are the only Korean Spectors made out of Maple. So they're going to balance better than the basswood Customs and Classics. My older Q4 was slightly neck-heavy. Not bad, but not perfectly balanced like my Euro models. It was basswood.

The USA Rex is made from AAAA Maple... but I would imagine the Korean Rex will balance about the same.

I was informed today that my order for a USA Series NS-4 in gloss water-cured redwood has been entered.
It's going to be worse than any Christmas wait as a kid that I can remember.
The clock has been set...
4 months until delivery. Tick tock...

Our are prolly in the same batch or close to it. My NS5HS-FM is on order with about a 4-month ETA. Can't wait to test out a Spector with WIDE SPACING!

I imagine that like every other USA Spector bass it's probably going to be the best made bass of that type you're likely to find.

The only makers I see those kinds of statements about are Spector and Sadowsky. US and NYC models respectively, of course.

Sweet. Good for you! I have two Korean models, two Euro models and my first USA on the way... I honestly feel you can't go wrong with these basses. Regardless of your level or skill. Each series has something great to offer it's players.

Like fine automobiles or like in my 9-5 life where people have their preferences of cameras... I prefer Arriflex... but many prefer Panavision and then there is Aaton. And in truth none are slouches. Those three camera makers make incredible cameras.

And in reality are differences between the USA and Euro lines... but the quality of the Euro models is top notch. You should know... that NS-2J-A-R is one seriously nice bass. I absolutely love mine.

I've put some thought into it and it's a combination of things that makes me like Spector so much. The sound/look/quality of their products is first. But then when you get a chance to talk to these guys... they're really cool, nice people who care about what they do. The passion and integrity in which Stuart, PJ, Jimmy and the rest of the members of their company approach each instrument is really special in my opinion.

And yes... I'm now completely biased.

I've got 2 Euro's already and I had a Korean Spector NS2000/4 when I was in college. I still wish I wouldn't have sold that.

Pictures will be up tomorrow. I couldn't pass up the $4 upcharge on shipping to get it next day.

I posted this in part 5 to get my membership, but I forgot to ask if the model was correct. It was $400. I may even call Spector and ask. The S/N is 0218137. I know it's a Korean model.

Yes, that is an NS2000/Q4. Bolt-on three piece maple neck, basswood body, quilt maple top, EMG HZ pickups.

I like it. I've been messing around with it all day/night since it showed up. I'll probably end up upgrading the pickups at some point but I knew that going into the purchase. I got a good deal on it and couldn't pass it up.

I left the BT preamp in because I kinda like it actually and for the most part I like the passive tone with the SGD pups!

I think I might pick up another but thats only if I dont end up ordering a Euro5 lol

Looks identical to the Q4 I used to own.

I left the BT preamp in because I kinda like it actually and for the most part I like the passive tone with the SGD pups!

I think I might pick up another but thats only if I dont end up ordering a Euro5 lol

I was thinking of either putting the DC's or CS's in this one. How much are the SGD's?
