Guitar Center has a used Tobacco Burst Rebop 4 for $249!!!! I called them up and the sales rep said, "That's the bass of the hour!!! Someone is demoing it, someone else is waiting to demo and buy it and there is someone on the phone wanting to buy it" DAMN, i was too slow on that one.

I finally got my bass out today and got a bunch of pictures of it.

I'm in the process of resizing them and whatnot, but here's one just for the heck of it:

All band stickers were put on by me. The original owner already had some stickers on the case. He also put the uglybassplayer.com stickers and the drum company stickers.

EDIT: For the record, when I bought this bass I had never played a Spector. Hell, I didn't even see this specific one in person before I bought it. He had it for sale a year or two back and no one ever picked it up. I messaged him to see if he would still sell it. He said he would if he could still get $400 for it. That is when I owned my first (and only) Spector. It's like a bass I would play in a dream.

I saw that yesterday. I was going to call first thing this morning and snatch it up, but decided against it. I really want an older rebop (with the fretboard dots) that I can convert to fretless. I'm not sure how well a fretless neck with crown inlays would work. That and I didn't think it was fair since I already snatched up the deal of a lifetime from GC. My gloss black 1989 NS2 should be in my hands by the end of the week. My father-in-law picked it up and he showed it to me over Skype. He said it doesn't have a scratch on it!

Going to have to pay attention to Guitar Center more often! Wow! I was in their store in Columbus, Ohio and was so disappointed not to see any Spector Bass. Tried a couple of MMEB 5r's though and was glad I have a Spector! :bassist:

Id like to just take a moment and welcome myself back to the world of spector basses! Used to have a Legend 4 (custom? p/j emg-hz's, gold hardware and a quilted amberburst finish) Got rid of it for a fender jazz, well i just ended up trading my MIM Pbass for a Spector NS-2A!!! :hyper: :hyper: :hyper: ill get some better pics later since these were quick cellphone shots. :bassist:

I like them A LOT more then the hzs that were in the bass. They sound a lot clearer as opposed to the sorta muddier tone from the other. I have no expierence with the DCs or blackouts... however the blackouts seem to be like theyre trying to bank on the popularity of their guitar blackout pups.. which IMO shouldnt have anything to do with it other then name... but thats might just be me :hiding:

That's what I'm worried about with the blackouts. Everything I've found through searching is video/sound clips of the guitar pickups which is fine but its definitely a different animal and I don't want to base my decision on that. I don't want to drop $200 on a set of pickups without having the faintest idea of what they sound like. I guess someone has to be the guinea pig but I'd prefer if it was someone else. SD's commercial for the bassline blackouts wasn't very helpful to me either. I emailed them a few days ago to see if it was possible to get sound clips other than the commercial so far I've had no feedback.

If I get the SGD's I think I'll probably check them out with the stock BT preamp and go from there. Did you go with the wide or narrow aperture?

I finally got my hands on my Kramer-era NS2. Wow ... I can see why GC would have overlooked the fact that it is worth more than they were asking for it. Overall it's in pretty good shape. There are some light scratches on it, but nothing you wouldn't expect for a 21 year old bass. However, it's dirty. The frets are pretty tarnished, the gold hardware needs to be cleaned and the body needs a good polishing. It will be a few days before I have everything cleaned up. I can't wait to get some new strings on it when it's all shiny!

I've never had to clean a bass that was this dirty before. I was thinking I would tape off the fingerboard and use steel wool on the frets to clean them up. I'm not sure what to use on the bridge and tuners though.
