Because the quality is every bit as good as a US bass.

Tone Pump vs. Aguilar OBP-3

EMG DC vs. EMG CS-TW

Spector hardware vs Hipshot

Take it as it is:

You also get choice woods (pretty at least, tone enhancing... ?).

Made in USA (means something to some people)
------

Nothing against the Euro, they're not the same or better, IMHO at least.

isn't that a jason newsted sig bass?

That's exactly what it looks like. Isn't the Spector World guy looking for one of those?

Spector hardware vs. Hipshot? Do they not come with Schaller anymore? I know the last 3 I've owned all had Schaller (all Euros too). EMG DC vs. TW? Now you're just splitting hairs.

With the exception of the preamp and abalone inlays, there really isn't that big of a difference. You can get the Euro's in a ton of different wood combinations and finishes, you just have too look around.

Schaller straplocks, Hipshot everything else. And no, seeing as one can switch between dual and single coil, I wouldn't consider it splitting hairs. Also the Euro comes with a rosewood fretboard and the US comes with Pao Ferro along with very high quality tops, no looking around.

No offence intended, just saying it how I see it.

Edit: The BO has mother of pearl inlays, like the Euro.

Also, my buddy spoke with PJ about possible replacement necks w/ 34" scale... ain't gonna happen, folks. :(

BUT... there is talk about offering a replacement BO neck with a 30" scale, due to the response they've received in regard to Garry Tallent's (sweeeeet) custom short scale NS-2J.

Just a slight possibility (from what I hear), so don't kill the messenger!

All I want is a 5 string with 34" or less for stringing E-C. So if it not just 4 (even though it probably is) I'll be happy.

Ummm, Thundar, isn't the Spector in your avatar natural wood? :hiding:

I typed a big long response to this but deleted it because honestly, I just don't care. The main point is that the last time I checked, very few people could afford to drop around $4k on a US Spector. That's what is truly great about the Euros. There are a few differences (albeit very costly). But in essence, you're getting THE Spector tone in a bass that's still in the high-mid to lower-high end price range, and of a quality that exceeds it's cost.

My US Spector has hipshots. Also, DC vs TW is not really splitting hairs. They sound vastly different to my ears.

You're definitely rounding to make your point. Euro 4LX= $2599.00, NS 4H2-FM= $2999.00. The used market has them within a couple of hundred as well.

You're a cool guy NKU, and what you say about price/quality ratio is consistent across all Spector models. However, the only thing the Euro has on the USA BO is that it's neck through. There is absolutely nothing that can make that any different.
