Spector Club

Good day, all. Long time browser, first time poster here. I've been looking through the Spector Club pages quite carefully over the last few weeks, and there are some beautiful specimens here!

I've been playing bass for nearly eight years, and have decided I would like to purchase my first Spector. As most of you, I am a man who enjoys his tone. I play a wide variety of music (from classical and jazz, to technical/brutal death metal). There's a guy on YouTube (http://www.youtube.com/user/jmatthews13) who has a really wonderful sound. I don't suppose her posts here, does he?

Anywho, I'm thinking I would like to get a five-string Spector, but I am curious as to whether or not I should start with a Euro 5LX. How much of a difference is there between a 5LX and a ReBop (or even a Legend)? I really like the tone and sound of the 5LX, but I've never heard any sound clips from the other two models. I would like to make my decision fairly, especially before dishing out all of that cash!

Does anyone know where I can get some decent sound clips without other instruments (or even just drum and bass)? As it stands, I am leaning towards the 5LX, but as I mentioned, I would love to make a fair decision based on sound, playability, and so on.

Thanks a lot,

Josh.

I think the Rebops have a warmer tone and take less work to find whatever sound you're looking for but the Euro LX series are more defined and take a little work with the controls to get a good sound. I'd probably go for the ReBop 5 first and if you like it get a Euro later. They don't sound totally different but ReBop are a good way to gauge whether or not you'll like a Euro. My ReBop is an older model with the Aguilar OBP-1 Pre and it sounds great.

My Euro Lx6 sounds great but the Tonepump 2-band pre is a kinda limiting (funny because my ReBop's pre is 2-band) because it's either balls to the wall loud or less than great tone, but that's probably more of a pickup deal. I had an EMG BQC pre lying around so i had my local tech swap that in. I'd just like the option of being able to make subtle changes to the otne of the bass without affecting its overall character, so i'm 99% that when i pick it up tomorrow i'll be happy.

Either way spectors are awesome basses and you really can't go wrong with either it's just a matter of how much your willing to spend, because either way the quality is fantastic.
