Spector Coda Jazz basses - What do you think?

Okay, so considering no one ever responded, here is a picture of a Coda. Now do you know what I'm talking about?

thats a good looking bass and i would love to get my hands on one so i could tell you more but here is what i can say about spector. i have played alot of their basses because i have a few good friends who all are endorsed and i can say this, their quality has been at a decline from what i have seen for the past couple years. they used to pay alot more attention to fine details and now they are letting some small things slide. i cant say anything for all spector basses but i would love to try this one out

I do it enough for it to be of concern. For the longest time I wouldn't own a bass without 24 frets but I've found that 22 is perfect for me but that number seems to be fairly uncommon among US made basses (compared to what I've seen of European makers anyway).

I thought it had 22 too but I saw a pic of it in the Spector Club thread. I'm kinda sad about it because I was looking forward to being back in the Spector Club :(.

I played one at Bass Central a few months back. It seemed extremely nice to me. It had the same candy tangerine finish as the bass you see in the photo. Neck profile was fairly rounded in the back and not as thin as some j basses. I won't say chunky because it still felt nice in the hand. One thing that stuck out to me was what the stacked active EQ knob. It didn't match the other three knobs at all and I thought it was odd looking.

Finally some good responses! I want to see some happy Coda owners, though!

I thought it had 22 too but I saw a pic of it in the Spector Club thread. I'm kinda sad about it because I was looking forward to being back in the Spector Club :(.

..............I never even heard of the Spector CODA Bass model, but just happened to come across one this week on a business trip. This thing is still new to me, but is the most amazing Jazz bass that I have ever played!! :bassist: It is a vintage Fender type J-Bass, so don't let the fret count fool you, this bass is very capable! Someone also mentioned the stacked knob looking out of place...........This bass is active, so it has the extra controls. It is actually active/passive with a push/pull control pot. Let me tell you the Aguilar Pre-Amp and Pick-ups kick butt. Turn up the the outer control knob on the stacked Pre-Amp control and you will have the "thickest" sounding Jazz bass you ever heard!! :eek: This bass is truly amazing, if you like J-Basses, this is one to try!! :cool:

Yeah I have to agree on that point, I really don't know what happened with the headstock. I can get over it very, very quickly though, especially when you see that true 60's paint in person :O
