I have played a full set of stark Spiros on my bass.
I have no problem with a big set of cables. Feels good actually.
The bottom end is as growly as your bass will deliver for jazz. You need good arco chops to work them for orchestral. They will not fit in a traditional Belcanto section. Not an arco string for beginners or occasional bow dudes imho.
Once you feel like you control them, not they control you, they are a satisfying musical arco string.
They can be tough on a thin carved top. I have heard of bass tops sinking from stark Spiros. Starks with a C extension is a brutal amount of tension.
Stark Spiros are not for everyone, especially if you have arthritis or age health problems. There is a reason solo Spiros tuned orchestral are popular. They feel good and sound good when played by the right guys.
