Here's a logistical question for those who have switched back to Spiros from gut. Did you guys need to have a new nut made? My slots are pretty wide at this point.....

good idea Jake! or why not have an animated ad with Stark E singing (with Terminator-style Austrian accent): "I'll be back, you girlie boys!"![]()
Every bass has a different response to strings and setup changes. There are many reasons a G might seem weak, only one of which is the string itself. Sometimes it's one of the other strings pulling on the top in a way that chokes the G string, Sometimes it's where the soundpost lives, sometimes the overall tension is to high or two low. There are many other reasons two, that's just two off the top of my head.Anybody else find mittels to be too weak? Even wth my healthy string height (10mm across EADG). The g string is borderline unacceptable to my ear, D string also too weak. A not bad, but could be better. E, near perfection, but makes me wonder what a stark feels like....
You weich users are crazy... i dont think i could ever play a string that small......

I resemble that remark! Of course, I come from an EB background where the gauges of a medium set of electric bass strings are similar to a set of Spiro Weichs, so it wasn't that much of a transition. You weich users are crazy...
That's why many of us monkey with our basses, strings and setups for years till we settle on something that sounds "right".
