split scrotum!?!?!? aggghhh!!!!

I would have thought he would have worn a cup.

Don't even wear a cup in contact sports over here. Cricket is the only sport here where they wear a cup.

The dude may have had some freaky piercings that helped the split.

Here's another fkd up sports story - 100% unverified.
A university rugby player dislocates his hip on the field. One of his teammates is a medical student who knows how to force it back into the socket, which he does with finesse.

Unfortunately the dislocation resulted in one of his nuts being in the socket area, which has now been crushed.
The dude screamed so hard he tore his vocal chords.

I've heard that too, I think it's a myth, because I can't get my head around how that would happen (anatomically).

However, I do have another (and true) Rugby tale for you. Guy I play with ended up with a boot in the crotch in a Ruck. Ended up with a torn urinary meatus!

Another, somewhat more famous story, is that of Wayne Shelford (ex-All Black).

Shelford made his Test debut for the All Blacks later that year against France in a 19–7 victory in Toulouse, and then was a notable victim of the infamous "Battle of Nantes" in the second Test. Roughly 20 minutes into the match, he was caught at the bottom of a rather aggressive ruck, and an errant French boot found its way into Shelford's groin, somehow ripping his scrotum and leaving one testicle hanging free. He also lost four teeth in the process. Incredibly, after discovering the injury to his scrotum, he calmly asked the physio to stitch up the tear and returned to the field before a blow to his head left him concussed. He was substituted and watched the remainder of the game from the grandstand where he witnessed the All Blacks lose 16–3. To this day Shelford has no memory of the game.

I heard of a trumpet player playing so loud and high he burst one. It was at a football game and he just fell on the field in a fetal position and they had to carry him off.

I was a springboard diver in high school and college. I've seen a few injuries from that sport, from hitting your head on the diving board face first throwing an inward dive, landing on the water horizontally on your stomach and coughing up blood for a little bit, to hitting the water on your side and splitting your eardrum, which sucks because you lose your balance if that happens and can hardly walk for a month..

But, there was one monstrous injury I will never forget.

I went to college in San Diego, and it was not uncommon to go down to Tijuana on any given night to pour few down the gullet and party all night. Granted, I didn't do that much (yes I was a boring college kid), but my teammate Sean... Well, lets just say he liked to party!

We had a rare Saturday diving meet toward the end of the season. It was late spring. As is typical, the trees were in bloom. As was also typical on a Saturday, Sean was quite hung over!

So, we are on our last dive of the day. Sean is to throw a forward 2 1/2 somersault off the 3 meter board. Well, he spins too slow, forcing him to open up too early... WAY too early! He enters the water at a diagonal, chin first. The sound it made was brutal. He came out of the water in pain, but not too bad. It wasn't until we got into the locker room, that he started feeling more pain and realized his nuts were swelling up! They had gotten at least twice as big as normal and now the pain was getting even worse.

Off to the hospital he went!

He had ruptured a couple of blood vessels in his sack, and had to stick a needle in there to drain it. I think they had to cauterize it. Untreated, it would have sterilized him.
