Spooktober. The one month of the year when I feel truly alive. Ghosts. Skeletons. Annoying teenagers. Sometimes pumpkins. Wind which blows my hair into my eyes every time I go to my local grocery store. Falling autumn leaves.

You know the drill.

New years is too loud. Xmas is fake. The only thing you celebrste is the absurd Spooktober. Candy. Marshies. All things sweet.

What will you do this year? Any carving going on in your damp, moss covered cave?

I have my annual horror movie marathon going on (well... I don't watch much else in the first place). Every day of the month, at least one movie, two on weekends. It's my favorite holiday season of the year, and my walls glow orange in the evenings. (Thanks, RGB LEDs!)

Maybe I'll also attend a Halloween party, but trick or treating is just not a thing over here. So no kids showing up -- the candy is all mine!

I am also doing the movie thing - Seen The Changeling, Psycho, Sixth Sense, Willys Wonderland, Antlers...
No kids here, running around etc - but candy I will def do.

This is far from normal but later this month I'll be visiting Dollywood on my birthday, and I understand there will be pumpkins!
In general, while I don't care for horror movies, I do think Autumn...Fall, as you lot in the US call it...is my favourite time of year.
Pumpkins are cool. Smelly after a while, tho :P

Day after Halloween I'm scheduled to have a molar pulled and starting the process of replacing it with an implant. Kinda spooked about that.
I am sure it will go just fine. I had an implant done myself and beyond being out for a day after the surgery and a few days of mild pain, it was okay! Take it easy, relax a lot and do not stress over it. If my teeth and mouth could have been saved, so can yours! :)

Thanks for that, I'll try...

I've got some homemade pumpkin puree just waiting to be turned into pies, cheesecake, bread, soup, some weird recipe I've never heard of that sounds delicious. Sky's the limit. Might go to a Halloween party too. Otherwise I'm out hunting and enjoying the peace and quiet.

So far, I've had the first three Romero Dead movies, Ghoulies 1 through 3 (trashy fun, 3 definitely has some Troma vibes thrown in), right now I'm watching all the SAW movies in order. Willies Wonderland is a good suggestion, I love the Cage horror/trash movies. Mandy and the Color out of Space are awesome too.

My kids are teens now (you know… the annoying kind:) )
I miss helping them with their costumes. Liquid latex and fake blood were sooo fun to play around with as well as haunted gingerbread houses. Oh wait, we can still do the haunted gingerbread!!!!
My 16 year old just asked me about trick or treating this year….. sorry bud, your bigger than me now. I doubt you’ll pass as a little kid anymore.

Some good picks for me. Never seen the ghoulies or had the stomach for SAW.

I saw colour out of space in the cinema. There were 4 people in the theater total when we went to see this - that includes me and my SO. It's one of the good movies with Cage, imho. Same with Mandy - it ticks all my weird little boxes. Gore. Cults. Love. Murder. Bizzare visuals.
Willys Wonderland... Really bad. Wouldn't recommend it unless you're specifically looking for a bad, bad and campy Cage movie.

Always gotta sh-it on the satanists, too. Ugh :P

Also try The Void if you haven't seen it. Very Lovecraftian, practical effects. People stuck in a location. Good stuff.

Also, a chainsaw duel. I think I heard in a making-of or a commentary track that the whole idea and visuals of Mandy were based on horror movie posters which were usually way over the top and in no way represent the movie faithfully. So you make a movie just as crazy as the imagination of a young teen whose only impressions of horror movies were the posters.

Willys Wonderland... Really bad. Wouldn't recommend it unless you're specifically looking for a bad, bad and campy Cage movie.
I loved it. It was very video game-y, Nick Cage not speaking a single word and chucking energy drinks like they were power ups.

Loved that one.
