Squier Classic Vibe 2019

Alright... so, I noticed something "interesting". The Sweetwater site has been updated since it seems they have actually got some of the new Jaguars in. I noticed the bridge looks like it's further from the body edge than the units that were shown at NAMM and have been on the websites and I got a suspicious feeling... Checked the specifications and: 32" scale length... ???

The page I used to order mine from Thomann still shows 34" and from the pics it looks like 34". The pickup position seems to be identical, but the bridge is moved. So.. having preordered a 34" scale bass, will I end up receiving a 32" (4 months after placing my order)? Stay tuned...

[EDIT] Sam Ash has pics of the 34", says 32" in description. Comparing the pics from Thomann and Sweetwater, the Sweetwater one is definitely shorter scale. Found an eBay seller which lists 34" scale, but pic is clearly the shorter scale... Wow, seems to be a bit of a mess. [/EDIT]

I've just ordered a Blackstar Silverline Special from Thomann. The product details were wrong though, saying no headphone and line in. Which they seem to have taken from the Silverline Head description. They were also missing the main panel pictures. So I don't think Thomann are overly careful about there product details.

The 32" scale length thing is new. All the sites used to show 34", with matching pictures, the example basses in the videos are also 34" (you can tell from the bridge to pickup distance and how they look in comparison to the other basses next to them). Now they show a mix of both, in both the text and images. Here's a little comparison of the images from the Squier site and Sweetwater (I assumed roughly the same body size when scaling):

You can clearly see the difference in scale length. Pickup location hasn't changed, but the bridge is closer to the pickup since the scale length is shorter. The images on the Thomann site and Sam Ash match those on the Squier site, Sweetwater shows the shorter scale, as does the eBay seller. These are images of the actual production instruments. So it would appear that Fender decided to change the scale length at some point between announcing them and production...

Emailed Thomann and they're sticking with their claim that the production units are 34" (I provided links to all the sites, including the official one). Odd thing is.. I'm not sure which I'm hoping it turns out to be. A big part of me hopes it's 32" since I really want to try medium scale, but another part of me wants it to be "exactly what I ordered"... which would be 34.  :help:

Tried today a Squier CV Jazz Bass 60's and I was quite impressed with the quality of the bass.
It felt really great in the hands and sounded amazing. Man, what a great sounding instrument and the sonic blue is a beautiful colour.
Very good for the money.

Hi there, I ordered mine from Thomann at a similar time as you but I rang them in November, just cause I was curious. From my understanding, I’m in a first batch that will be available around the 6th of January.

When I enquired about mine:

"Hi, so far we have not received any piece of this item to our stock . We are expecting two deliverys and both of them are estimated to come to us at the end of May."

:eek::(

So my 2019 model bass which I preordered in September may arrive just before Summer NAMM 2020...

I wish that Fender wouldn't even release new model information until they have adequate stock on hand!

that’s all a bit frustrating...I got in touch with Thomann last week re mine and they said they were expecting it any day now. In the mean time the status of the jag went from “available at short notice etc” to “available for pre order” so I’m guessing it’ll be another while before they get it.

they have also listed it as a 32” scale now.

Ah, did you order one in black? That may be the difference between our orders, I ordered the burst model. I see the specs on the black one do indeed now list the scale length as 32", although it's still classified as "long scale" and the pics are not updated yet (the burst model still lists 34").

In any case, I'll put more effort into getting my project bass finished and wait patiently to see how this all plays out. I'm putting a reverse P pickup into VM Jaguar HB and replacing the neck.

This is a major mystery...... So much that I just ordered the CV Jaguar Bass from GC. I really wanted one of them sexy black models, but they're not in yet and I couldn't wait, so I opted for the 3TS. Should be here in a few days and if no one else has reported by that time, I will. Yep, the Fender / Squier site says 32". I hope that's right. If this ends up being a 32", I'll be elated. If not, I may send it back. We'll see. I love the Jag shape. I currently have 2 SS Jags (down from 4) that are a hoot to play, but I want to go with a Hipshot bass extender and have a bit less "flubbiness" in the E string.

Welcome to the club!

Thomann have updated their descriptions now to both show 32" and scale length is also now "mediumscale" (despite their assurance via email that they're 34"), so the evidence for them really being 32" is gettting stronger and stronger. I really hope they are 32", as I think that makes them quite unique in the Fender lineup. Assuming it is 32" I'm thinking of going with relatively thick flatwounds on mine when it eventually arrives.

I don't have that much experience with different instruments but my 2019 CII Daphne Blue CV 60's Jazz is the best instrument I've ever played. Beats the hell out of my old 1980's Jazz. YMMV

I am the author of that post and I have to tweak it a bit. The A string tuner went bad the other day. I spoke to Sam Ash where I bought it and I was outside their 45 or 60 return window. I emailed Fender on Sunday. No response as yet.
Not sure what they would do for me. Send me another el cheapo tuner? Send me to a local dealer so they can install another el cheapo tuner? I told them the e-string tuner looks like it's going also.
Yes, other aspects of the instrument remain great but the shine is definitely off.

I'd just go get a decent set of tuners and install them myself for all of the strings. That fixes the problems and you should be good to go for a long while. It's not like a set of tuners is all that expensive.

So I picked up my lefty 70s Jazz in black earlier this week after a 6 week wait, very happy with overall fit and finish. Neck pocket is tight, no blemishes on headstock, neck, or body. The neck binding has a few minor scuffs on it, but then again every other one I've seen does too. Action needs some work as does the bridge pick up (too high). Need to get some pics uploaded :bassist:

Getting it over to my tech to get a KickAss bridge fitted and new Fodera Nickels (stock strings are not to my taste at all!), can't wait to get it back and start playing!

I have an older VM Jazz lefty that I’m pretty happy with. How do you like the hardware on your CV?

Pics?
