Hi,
I'm new here on this Forum and I live in The Netherlands
This week I bought blind, after weeks of investigation, the 2019 Squier Classic Vibe 60s Precision Bass with help of this great Talkbass thread!
My first impression after unboxing is very good.
The 3-Tone Sunburst painting looks better than I expected
First thing what I always do is disambling the whole guitar for a deep inspection and, if needed, some upgrades.
This is my report;
- Quality of these classic open tuners are not bad.
I lubricate these tuners with PTFE (Teflon) spray because they were dry.
- Neck is nice and straight!
No sharp edges on the end of the frets.
Trussrod with the 4mm Allen Nut works smooth without cracking noises.
- Yes indeed, the Indian Laural Fingerboard is dry and have a pale appearance!
I treaded the fingerboard 4 times with Walnut Oil and now it have a nice dark look.
- Nut is not made of natural bone!
Think it's made of Nylon or Teflon.
- The bridge is a cheap lighweight "AliExpress" part!
Love bridges with brass saddles and i'm going replace it for a Wilkinson WBBC-4 bridge.
- The PU is excellent.
Measured the DC resistance and the value is 10,8k

That's very good value for a Precision Bass!
(For example; I owned a 1992 MIJ Squier Precision Bass and the value of the PU was a poor 8,4k. The output was low and the sound was (of course) thin).
- The wirings and solderings are ok.
- The brandless green capacitor with code 2A503J (.050uf) is being replaced for a Sprague Orange Drop capacitor .047uf.
- Pots are good and turning smooth.
- Output Jack is low quality and is being replaced for a Switchcraft.
- There was a lot of sawdust in the cavity hole!
- The 4-ply Tortoise Pickguard looks nice and is a good quality product.
- Strings are from a unknown brand NPS (Nickel Plated Steel).
I prefer stainless steel roundwound strings and i'm going replaced it for the Rotosound 66 Swing Bass strings.
To give this '60 PB an authentic look i'm going to dress up the bass with the original Fender Bridge and PU Covers and Thumbrest
