Squier Classic Vibe 2019

I got a 70s Jazz a few weeks ago and I'm loving it.

It has a few flaws in comparison to my 60s P (which is also a 2019 model) but both instruments play and sound damn well for the price.

Thx Richard, my local dealer called me today to say that Fender contacted him this morning to advise him that the 50's Sunburst Precision CV he has on order is to leave Fender California on Dec 26th. Should arrive Jan 2-3.

I've ordered my Jag from Thomann in Germany and they've said the stock will ready to ship on the 6th January...fingers crossed

Planning to buy my first bass in the next month and think it's going to be Squier Classic Vibe '70s Jazz Bass - Black.
Please criticize? My rationale - good reviews/reasonable price/passive - for some reason I feel better about it/good design/compared against SR300 and RAY4.

Context:

• No previous experience playing any musical instrument (apart from playing harmonica a little long time ago)
• Will be practicing at home and not planning to play with a band yet
• I really like bass here - The Clash, RHCP, Tame Impala
• Preference for new gear. Searched eBay and CL and haven't found anything appealing anyway (I live in San Francisco)

The other stuff I'm planning to get. Am I missing anything?

• Fender Rumble 40 1x10" 40-Watt Bass Combo (good reviews/reasonable price/don't feel like I will need more)
• Korg Pitchblack Advance Tuner Pedal
• Instrument cable and stand

Can't argue with any of your choices. Not sure you really need a tuner pedal with not playing in a group, something more basic perhaps would better suit your need. I really like my Korg GA1, very accurate, reliable and simple. I really hated the clip on Snark I had before that. Don't cheap out on the guitar cable either if you really want to get the most out of your bass and amp, get something of quality. I absolutely love my Rattlesnake!

Thanks! I was going to get Lava Cable Angled-Straight. Should I reconsider? The Rattlesnake looks awesome and reviews are excellent.

It's the best cable I've ever used and made right here in good ole U.S.A. They are rather pricey but well worth the cost in my opinion. They go on sale every now and then also.

The Rumble 40 is nice but personally I'd go with the 100. Better bottom imo.

I am growing concerned... I ordered my Jaguar from Thomann in September. The status changed from "Available for pre-order" to "In stock in 5-6 weeks" and counting down from there until it reached "2-3 weeks" at the beginning of December... Then close to Christmas it changed back to "Available for Pre-order" and now it shows "8-9 weeks". It's a long wait for a bass, but I have a project bass to keep me busy until then.

What really concerns me is that the pictures that are now up on the Sweetwater site (where the 3-tone burst model is apparently in stock already) show the bridge pickup in the 70's position as opposed to the 60's position shown in all the pics previously...

Well that's promising

It may arrive before I complete my project bass then (Adding a reverse P pickup to a VM Jag HB). Looking more closely, the bridge looks like it's in a different position, more so than the pickup... Will have to see when I actually get it in hand.
