Love the Black on Black with the Maple fretboard and black, block inlays. Awesome! I see you painted the "ashtray" black also... looks nice
Haha yes the ashtray stood out too much so that was an easy fix.I have a custom neck plate coming from America as the original is plain chrome and when I find the correct tuners project finished.Its a joy to play the small frets make it even smoother.Great craftsmanship in these you won’t be disappointed.I was going to put the Geezers in my Fender P-bass but because I was picking up the squire all the time my mind was changed
I was thinking of dropping Aguilar AG 4P-HOT pickups in my Squier. Originally, I was going to go with the SD Quarter Pounds, but I was wanting a little more "clean" sound... so I will probably get the Aguilars.
Geezers are very popular here on TB. I listened to those, QPs (I have the SD QP PJ set in my Affinity Squier) DiMarzios, Fender Custom Shop, Lollar, Fralin and Batolini's... I chose the Aguilar AG 4P-HOT pickups in the end... they just fit my application better. I'm also going to purchase a Tech 21/SansAmp Character Series VT Deluxe Preamp/DI. It can get a wide range of classic Ampeg tube amp bass tones. I LOVE the old Ampeg tones!
That pickguard looks awesome on the black paint body color (and the thumb rest too)... What a beautiful mod
I received mine a few weeks ago and the headstock has a darker tone than the fretboard (not like yours which seems to be more balanced, if it makes any sense).

Yes, there are now in days two version of this Precision Bass Classic Vibe 70s. The first one was born in 2015 under the Classic Vibe line still made in China with bridge cover and thumbrest under the G string with mass bridge with brass saddles, Squier P bass small logo, this one was discontinued in 2018. The newer one is Made in Indonesia without bridige cover, without thumbrest without mass bridge but bigger Squier P bass logo.
You know what is strange? I have a 2018 (CIC) CV 70S (SFR) and it does NOT have a high mass bridge or brass saddles but does have the ashtray bridge cover. Maybe they decided not to put the HMB with brass saddles on the FSR CV 70s basses. The FSR basses were seafoam green.
Got one in that lovely brown colour (avatar) It feels and plays just like any of the vintage P's Ive owned and has exactly the same shortcomings too, well one really, an E string which just seems a bit lack lustre...but then so did the E other Fender P's Ive had. All in all for the money probably one of the cheapest pro quality instruments out there. I pair it with a VM P bass which isnt too shabby either
Luckily I just found 1st version of this Precision Bass 70's Classic Vibe made in China, found it yesterday a very good price, brand new, never used, it still has the plastic protector on pickguard. This is from 2017 and it has the Hi Mass bridge with brass barrel saddles. This is a great bass in person, I own other Classic Vibes like 50s in Lake Placid Blue, Jazz Bass 60s Olimpic White and Precision bass 60's in Sonic Blue. Now I can tell I have the Classic Vibe completed.
Score! My favorite bass! Right along with my modded Squier Affinity PJ. Congratulations!
The last batch before the china cv70P discontinued has minor change, FMIC replace the brass Himass bridge and huge/thick bridge cover to regular bend bridge and standard size Pbass bridge cover.
Just ordered a Squier CV 70's P bass. Read nothing but great things about these, BUT after much excitement I received my Surf Green Limited edition this afternoon and it's going back. The frets are sharp and put fine slits in my fingertips just running my hand down the neck. The volume knob is crooked when it turns. The neck pocket has a gap along the very bottom rear and at the heel of the neck and looks sloppy. I really wanted to like this as I love the color and the vintage vibe with the tinted neck and block inlays but my Tagima TW76 jazz makes this look like an Affinty or less. The Tagima with a new set of Duncans seems far nicer. Gotta admit, I'm bummed.
Shame that current Indo CV 70P has those sxck QC. My Indo CV50P also surfer with fret issue again after I solve several uneven fret wires issue 6 months ago. Poor QC from both Cortex and Samick factory.
But, my Philippines made USD 299 Bacchus BJB1RSM has flawless QC as great as Yamaha TRBX 504 and Fender Perfomer J.

Ive had this bass a year now and it just gets better...even the E string has hardened up a bit, and loving to the PU's too, plenty thumpy enough for my needs .
I've owned many P's and this one feels just like my 70's P's but better and its the neck. Its thick but not quite as thick as a 70's vintage P neck.....best feeling neck I've ever had. Cant stand those standard skinny necks which are made by evryone. I'm convinced the thicker neck adds to the tone.

I have a Squier CV 70s P bass in walnut finish. Great instrument. BUT when it arrived the strings were completely slack and when tuned up to pitch the neck had a serious back bow and the bass was unplayable, fret buzz all over. Rather than going straight for the truss rod tool, I just tuned all the strings about a major third sharp to see if the increased string tension might pull the neck forward. Overnight, there was a huge improvement and a day or so later I retuned to pitch and gave it a very minor tweaking to set it up, although I hardly had to do anything further to it at this point. The bass played really well and has needed no further attention - I’m completely happy with it now and would recommend one of these to anyone after a great P bass at a very fair price.
I decided I wanted a Pbass. Have three Jazzes and don’t need that many. Picking up the Surf Green CV 70s tomorrow at GC. I played the MIM models, but the CV really felt and played the best. I know it most likely doesn’t sound as good, but I will be upgrading right after I get it with a high mass bridge and PV63 pickups.
I have to admit, I was shocked how well it was put together and felt. Punching way above its weight.
Another thing, and I didn’t measure, but everything on line says these have a 1.63 nut width and I played it and that was a Jazz width neck. Been playing them my whole life and I could just feel it. Maybe this one was an oddity from the factory.
