I have an DiMarzio Ultra neck pup waiting in the wings to be one-half of a J/MM configuration. Any thoughts on the solo'd neck pickup sound?
We've all had to eat our words I'm sure where instruments are concerned. Do what works for you.
comparing the UltraJazz to the Fralin Split set I just put into my Fretless VM Jazz,
i'd say the UltraJazz Neck is a little more focused with a high mid emphasis
the Fralin Neck sounds more vintage and open while the UJ is tighter
a little difficult one being fretless
The UltraJazz is a slightly hotter pickup than the Fralin
I LOVE the UltraJazz set - I had the UJ in my fretless for the longest time
I think the UJ Neck would be a great match with a MM
I have a set Ultra J on my previous Mim J, but all magnet pole piece are flushed. I believe the current one able sound better balance string to string output since I found she has raise A and D magnet pole piece design which matching with 9.5 fretboard radius.
These original run Squier CV 60’s basses are crazy good .

I had one, I loved the neck on it, smaller than a usual P i thought.
I returned mine, ONLY because i'm just not a P player.

I've normally preferred jazz bass necks. However, I love the neck on this. It's wider at the nut that a jazz bass, but not as wide as some P basses. It's also not as chunky front to back.

I, too, walked out of GC the other day with one of these. I must say - Squier is absolutely KILLING it with their
necks these days. I have a CV Jazz neck on a P body and had a Paranormal Jazz on which the neck was stellar and of course, this bass on which the neck is really good.
The fretwork is impeccable on mine too. I have a Fender Meteora guitar, which is significantly more expensive and was made in Mexico, and the fret ends are terrible. This Squier's fret ends are as smooth as a $3000 guitar.
could someone with this CV Precision please do me a favor?
i'd like a couple of neck measurements:
1. nut width
2. neck thickness behind the first fret (wood to wood)

They advertise 43mm but it's more like 41,5mm. And it's a very thin neck with a C profile so... very thin, with no place for a good trussrod action; and less meat to fight the strings tension = necks that bows and warp in a short run. Yet people won't believe me. They'll buy it

The neck mine hasn't moved at all since I set it up to Fender specs about a week ago. The other Squier necks I mentioned above haven't moved at all either. It takes a few truss rod adjustments before a neck "settles in."
If that was true, wouldn't every single jazz bass have that problem? 41.5 millimeters is not "very thin." Most jazz basses are 38 are so.
It's not as thin as either of my other bass necks, and they have not warped in years of ownership. And yes, before you ask, they also have a C profile.
Just say you didn't like the neck, and leave it at that.
