Does anyone know if full size pots/shafts will fit using the stock control plate on Indonesian classic vibe jazz basses?
To add to my list of complaints, my late 60s jazz bass also arrived with a bad output jack lol (had to replace a busted tuner as well). Rather than just replacing the jack, I want to put "the good stuff" under the hood. Just wondering if CTS pots will be too big for the stock hole diameter.?.?.?.?

And to add to this question, wondering if anybody has tried installing a push/pull pot for series/parallel switching on one of these? I've got the a 250k hanging around, but am wondering if it's going to require some routing out of the cavity to fit it (not a deal breaker, but certainly not my preference)

I'm debating pulling the trigger on a 60s Classic Vibe P Bass, but I'm curious what the refresh cycle is? If something new is around the corner I may hold off and see what they have to offer. If the series is unlikely to update any time soon I'm less likely to hold out.

If you have any stores near you, I would STRONGLY suggest picking out a winner, rather than waiting for a "grass is greener" new model to come out.
Yesterday I swapped out the stock CV pickup in my fiesta red 60's P for a pickup out of a Fender Classic Series P that a friend gave me. Sounds a little fatter but not much different. The dc resistance of the new pickup was only slightly higher than the stock CV.
There's too much nice wood to keep it covered up, and I can put the original back in 5 minutes for a more retro vibe
It would be great if Squier/Fender offered a version with no pickguard, since the guard is not serving a cavity covering purpose.
Before I decided to go from the white stock guard to B/W/B on mine, I thought about having somebody fill the screw holes and shoot a clear coat.
Somebody who knows what they are doing with GluBoost Repair Products could make it so you never knew there were holes on it.
Why not just get a clear/transparent pick guard like the one Dave is using on his Squier CV 50s?

You mean the ToneRider pickups? I was actually thinking of swapping out those stock pickups from my Fiesta Red and try on Aguilar 60s or Fenders Original P Pickup.
I would never put on a clear pickguard, if it would look good with clear, it would look better with no guard.
1951P & 1954P for sure.
I would much rather have a black guard than a clear one.

I wouldn't bother waiting. Not every re-release is necessarily a good thing.
The Squier CVs are a good example of this. Imo the original pre-2019 series were better built than the current ones. Heck, even my older VMs are better than the current CVs. Not speculating, I have 2 VMs and a 2nd gen CV. The QC (not the electronics) on the VMs is a mile ahead of the CV. Probably now built in the same factory to boot.
The original CVs were a potential MIM killer. The 2nd gen, not so much. If you ask me, I'd speculate that Fender knocked the CVs down a notch with the 2nd gen so there would be less encroachment on MIM Fender sales. Mission accomplished!

I originally saw the clear pick guard on a Fender Japan model and always liked the look, also on the paisley models.
As for filling in the holes (and then matching the finish), that sounds like a major PITA or an expensive undertaking on a Squier.
I have a 2014 Chinese CV 70s P bass and I absolutely love the stock pickup, which I assume is the tonerider they supposedly came with. But my fiesta read was purchased used, and the pick up just didn't sound the same to me for some reason. Maybe it had been swapped out at some point. At any rate, I wouldn't want the exact pick up in two separate P basses anyway.
You know what they say about opinions, but here is mine… I used to have the Aguilar 60s P pickup and it completely neutered my bass. I would keep the Tonerider (or whatever the stock is) over the Aguilar pickup 9 days of the week. I love their jazz pickups though.
