Yes, that was the neck I was referring to, I can see why you dig it, looks like a good one, nice flame too! I didn't know you could get squires with quarter-sawn necks like that.
Some necks from Grand Reward, China for the Classic Vibe and Modern Player (Fender) series are quarter-sawn and or flammed and or quilted.
Check my photos again under this text. I have two CV70 Precision necks, and one MP Jazz maple neck:
- 1st CV70 P neck is : quarter-sawn AND flammed
- 2nd CV70 P neck is : quarter-sawn AND "zebra looking" trussrod plug and skunk stripe
- MP Jazz maple neck : quarter-sawn and U profile (I love this profile!)

Yes, I took the new guard off and installed an older one and it looks and plays the part. It's a great bass.
GC has been blowing these out the door at $299. Great deal

Yes, I got me a 40th Jazz when they were on sale. Unfortunately might need to exchange mine after taking a closer look of it's quality control 
After whacking it with a mallet, it stood in place. Even though it's starting to lift again when strings are in tension. May have to completely give it new tuners. However, I did notice the neck is bowing which has been incredibly a pain after I had adjusted the truss rod.
Hopefully the local tech can fix it completely as I'm still not really confident on my own "setups"

I play more and more mine.
Now that I have put La Bella 760FS flats and an ugly sponge mute, with the right settings on my amp I can play both warm and round with fingers or with a pick with a great attack and ghost notes.
Love it <3
I will just receive tommorrow a set of TI Jazz Flats, I think I will try them on my MiM Jazz that I mainly don't play anymore because of roundwounds and PB love phase.
I also have a Vintage V4 (P clone) that like a lot, equiped with Fender 9050 flats, sounding a bit more modern than this CV60's.
But I might swap all these strings at one point for new experiences...
I'm open to your recommendations and feedback if you play with flats.

Similar issue one my 2nd and 3rd CV50P on E tuner. Fix with copper tape warp around the ring.

Regard the neck stable issue, once you get a bass from others place to your home, first thing you need to do is check the neck relief with string tune in pitch, forget the action and others thing.
If bow too much , you need give it a truss rod turn not more than 1/4 turn. After that , in tune and leave it at least 24 hours.
Process same thing until you get your personal neck relief preferences.
Once you found the sweet spot, you still need leave it at least 48 hours for final fine adjustment in same humid/temperature room.
After that, do what you wanna to do on it.
Once she get stable, my personal acceptable range on neck relief value change margin on humid/temperature change are between .007 ~ .014 on my personal preference.010 setting.
If more than that, the bass will put on market place.

Early 2023 I've found a like new 2017 CORTEK MADE Vintage Modified Precision Bass. The previous owner (a nice lady) bought it but never used it. I bought it for a friend that needed a bass for recording. Of course, I took it, cleaned the dust, oiled the rosewood fingerboard and set everything up. In June, the neck was bowed even though I adjusted it very nicely, so I tightened the trussrod even more. A few days ago, was at my friend again, and the neck was bowed... again. I then reached the trussrod max tightness. Yesterday... the neck was bowed again. There's no more room to set the bass. I hate Cortek made Squiers and will NEVER buy one ever again. Their neck are too thin and their trussrods can't do sh** even on 45-100 gauges.
I have 7 Grand Reward China made necks ; 5 Squiers (Classic Vibe) and 2 Fenders (Modern Player) and had 5 other GR necks in the past, and never had a single issue with their trussrods and these necks were all holding into place after a proper setup. I had too many Cortek basses (my first bass ever from 2012 IS a CORT) and everything they do for budget prices (at least, cause I can't confirm for their higher prices stuff) have thin necks and bad trussrods. The only EXCEPTION to my list: the Squier Vintage Modified FIVE STRINGS Precision Bass. That's the only one that had a good neck with no trussrod issues. Probably cause the construction is different.
Avoid ICS Squiers. I tell you.

Well, I only had one Samick made Squier. so I cannot really judge with one neck... But! I didn't like it either. Thin and hard to adjust. Some low frets that required a full planimetry.
Hello, I'm just playing my 2012 CV60P now and man I love these tiny vintage frets. I don't have them on my other basses.
I am just wondering a few things :
- do the current CV60P have them too ?
- do some people prefer the big frets ? or why is it something that changed (if we call them vintage)
- maybe because it wears faster ? or requires a better neck ? so will I have to do a fretjob sooner at a luthier ?

the bigger frets require less pressure do you can play them faster for example. There is no wrong answer in fret preference.

That's funny I have the opposite feeling, it might be personal indeed. With jumbo frets I will press more "to the wood", with more bumps on my neck when I slide. With vintage frets I play with much lighter left hand.
