I bought both the 60s jazz and the 60s P bass and swapped the necks. Then sold the jazz with the P neck.
I haven't made tracings or taken micro measurements of these P basses, but side by side and held next to each other in a single row: '08 CV60, '06 MIM, '03 Squier P/J and '79 MIA all appear to me to be the same size, shape, thickness etc. Also when put in the same case everything fits exactly the same. Hope this helps.
I picked up this CV P the other day. I'd like to swap out the stock pickguard for an aftermarket white pearloid. Is there a vendor who makes a drop in pickguard that has holes that will match up? Thanks!
The Fender MIA Standard pickguards are an exact fit. That's what I have on mine. Though they have the little cutout for the truss rod access.
If my wife figures out how many basses I've accumulated, there may be an opportunity for you.
Meanwhile, I put the mint Am Std PG and GHS Precision Flats on. I'm waiting for some spare time to work on the electronics. Got some Allparts 250K audio pots, .047 orange drop capacitor (could not find a 0.1), and new jack. Thinking about putting in an SPB-1 pup that I have on the shelf, but then I would never ever sell! Plus the stock pickup sounds pretty beefy.
Allparts features replacement pick guards as well and may be cheaper than Fender (emph. added). They're also US-made. I put a mint green on my sonic blue thunder last year. 99% perfect fit!

Yeah, just a little shaving; it was a wee bit tight around the pup, but the screw holes were bang-on perfect!
I have a bass with the SPB1 and I like the CV60 stock pickup better. It is more aggressive, not that the SPB1 is lame or weak. If you decide to sell the CV60 pickup p.m. me, I'm looking for a eplacement for a Jag SS P pickup.
All right guys, I just picked up the sonic blue CV60 Precision (still with stock electronics) and played it through my solid state reference amp and my LB-30 tube amp. It is a righteous bass! And a looker! What am I missing here? Yes, the knobs are a little cheesy and the tone pot a little scratchy--but it's scary that they can make such a killer bass in China for a third of the price of MIA.

It's amazing. My squier matt freeman (which is essentially a CV with a maple board) has the most comfortable neck. There's one high fret (19th, E side), but absolutely no sprouting, finish is perfect. Only real qualm is the knobs feel wayyyyyy too cheap for how good everything else is.

I need to add a CV P to my arsenal, my CV J is kicking some serious ass!
I had a gig a month ago, and a friend of mine brought his 1976 Fender Jazz for me to try it out. During the sound check, I couldn't get this thing to work in my band mix (classic hard rock, Led Zep tribute), it was just thin and lacked any balls. So I busted out my CV J to test it, and it kicked the 1976 Jazz so hard in the nuts I never looked back.
My friend blamed the thinner tone on the maple fretboard. Could be, but I'm not really buying that 100%.
So yea, CV all the way man. Now I'm not only hard pressed to ever move to actual Fender, but I'm scared of doing it. lol

The SB CV60 kicks major booty. I mean, *major*. Easy player, great neck, musical and resonant, bassy as heck when you roll off the tone. Great looker.
Time to sell the Fenders and Laklands? That would make the War Department happy!
What is the deal with this bass? Even in bone stock condition except for new strings, it is suddenly the best price-performer in the entire arsenal. And you gotta love that sonic blue with rosewood. Who knew? Is this The One??

Mine would be the one, but I love the added stability of the reinforced neck of my MIA P. Scarily though that's the only thing that just nudges it out.
