Yeah. I don't think any Squier has ever come with an installed cover. Anyone feel free to correct me if I'm wrong.

Can't say for sure, the majority of the 2008-2010 CV 60's P basses I have seen have the ashtray cover and the tug bar,
at least the Sonic Blue and Fiesta Red.
I looked at a NAMM dem didn't have the ashtray cover but also saw a demo vid from 2008 of the the Sonic blue P with the cover that said it was a stock 60's P.
Maybe it was a "Special Run" there are so many 2008-2010 with a tug bar and cover I tend to believe they were a thing.

I think i have read that the blue had it installed and the fiesta red had no cover.
Mine has no holes.
Ah, ok thanks, then the Sonic P was probably an exclusive since there are plenty of those early fiesta P's with no holes (like yours) I think the tell is the sonic blue has the high-mass bridge but it doesn't have the brass saddles (IIRC).
The CIC CV P that come with thick and bulky bridge cover are first run Sonic Blue 60s P and Black 70s P .
But the last batch of Black 70s P before entire CIC CV line discontinue, they replace the brass himass bridge by traditional bend bridge, along with correct size of bridge cover install.

You'll wouldn't lose much weight unless you very carefully routed out within a couple millimeters of the outline of the pickguard and only left a couple millimeters thickness to the chamber, anway.
took the pickguard out of my sunsburst CV50P - definitely looks sting cool!

I would like to share some mods i've done to my Squier CV 70s Pbass
I kept the stock pickup as it is pretty decent and reads out at 10.5k output but I might want it to sound a little less darker and have a lower output pickup..(still trying to decide on it since i don't want any unecessary mods like that stainless steel refret i've kind of regret spending money on )
- Full refret to Jescar Stainless Steel Frets (kinda overkill and unnecessary given that the stock nickel frets absolutely have no issues.. but hey future proof!)
- Aluminum Pickguard from Musiclily
- Graphtech String Saver saddles (another mod i realized was unecessary )
- Full electronics rewire - brass 250k pots, .047 Orange Drop capacitor

yes i think it pretty much helped with the grounding.

I just want to point out that you don't need an aluminum pickguard for this, you can simply use copper foil on a plastic pickguard. Just make sure the shielding is grounded. Personally I wouldn't trust the mechanical connection between pots/jack/pickguard for grounding. If anything comes loose during a gig your could get crackling/dropouts. On the other hand, you don't want lots of ground connections all over the place that could, at least in theory, cause a ground loop, although this is rarely a problem with a passive P-bass unless you've got a cold solder joint somewhere.

Neck present ight yellow tint compare to light brown tint samik CV70s neck.
That body color look more like sonic blue over seafoam green.
The stock pickups are 11.6k wound, tonal quite huge and less top end.
The knob are cheap push in type instead knob has locking screws use on samik CV70sP
Extremely low quality flower shaft potentiometer compare to 6mm solid shaft pot on samik CV70P.
String tree placement more close to nut compare to samik CV70P too.
This bass still under setup process.
Current mod only pickups cover and knob change.
