Looking at this neck heel, it seems like it was Crafted in Indonesia, can you confirm please?

EDIT: it's supposed to be made by Samick, they're better made than Cortek ones. But Grand Reward/MH remaions the best factory! Too bad they didn't do the first gen this way: binding and dots... I would have swapped the tuners for Lollipops!!

The SSL interface or the controllers? Love them all. But I'd really like a rackmount 8-pre version of the SSL12! For now I'm using the old Presonus with it via optical for more pres. I don't have a whole lot to say about the interface. It sounds good, is easy to use, has all the features I needed, and does its job. I previously had a UA interface but sold it once I realized it didn't have individual phantom power on each input.

The controllers (UF8, UF1, UC1) are amazing. It's truly like working on a real board, relying more on my ears than my eyes. And using a fader for automation is oh so sweet. Thankfully I got all of them on sale for significant discounts over a period of time.

Gotcha, very cool I didn't know if you
were running the interface with a UF8
or if you had to. So I take it the UF1 is "transport/plug-ins/control" so the UF8
is the bridge for the daw software for real time fader control monitor mixing?

If so yea it's like working on a real board because, well, it is a real board, so nice!
I am going to have to look into it more…

Yeah, basically the interface (and external press) serves as all my audio ins (mics, bass) and the UF1 is the master with metering plus transport (I use connected footswitches for record and stop if I'm playing), the UF8 is the channel faders and automation, and the UC1 is the channel strips and compressor. The UC1 has been updated to be a third-party plug-in controller but I haven't futzed with it yet. And with the interface I can quickly switch between headphones and monitors. It's made everything faster and infinitely more fun, especially in the mix stage.

I bet it did ("It's made everything faster and infinitely more fun, especially in the mix stage.") so you are using inserts in the daw and mousing/ keyboard for your plug-ins/sims/eq ect. I do find it is a PITA with my processor limitations and I often end up "printing" those tracks which yep takes extra time.

It's way more than I need at this point but it must be super nice to be able to control most the daw-flow from the desk instead of the "virtual box" so to speak.

Trivial little aesthetic question for my fellow Classic Vibesters about… KNOBS!

I know lots of folks swap the chrome domed knobs on their Ps for flat-tops because they're more "correct." But has anyone thrown "correctness" to the wind and gotten wacky with your P-bass knobs? Speed knobs! Top hats! Strat knobs! Chicken heads!

Pics, please. Gimme some inspiration to go knob-nuts. :smug:

Brass nut installed at cool local shop, Peter's Violin.
Fender High Mass. Chromed brass saddles.
Lots of sustain! I'm grinning like the Cheshire Cat right now.
