I suggest just leave the pot stock, they turn smooth and work well. Both pot increase and reduce volume and tone range nicely.
The only thing i mod is capacitor, from stock .05uf to .1uf. i found that .05 uf sound boxy-honky while tone knob roll back from 40% to 0%.

i have no longer own the indo CV50P anymore, but my advise is stock pup sound dark ,boomy and high output, this baby sound poor amd lost in mix with well broken-in traditional flatwound bass string. I highly recommend bright sounding roundwound or bright sounding flatwound bass string like EB Cobalt flat, Group flat and Fender 9050L to get better tone balance.

I’m upgrading the assembly to the 51-56 wiring style that produces a much darker tone closer to that of uprights. All Fender Precisions after 1957 use the same wiring assembly. And using dome knobs that will need to go on American pots to fit. It was between full or mini CTS pots in case there was no room but if full size can fit in the Indo CV cavity, no reason not to. Choosing a tropical fish poly cap over correct paper-in-oil because of practicality. The same tone will be achieved with poly or pio.

That and upgrading the pickup to a SCPB-1, which is very close to an original P Bass pickup. Fender did use Alnico II magnets very early on but used Alnico V in short succession.

Basically making this a 1954-56 style Precision Bass with a top loader bridge which I’m okay with, intonation will be much easier to achieve than a vintage correct Wilkinson bridge. I’m putting a bridge cover on anyway, so it will be hidden from the front. I don’t buy the myth of better sustain from string-through bodies.

I’m debating putting Gotoh reverse tuning machines on as well, just because I love the look of them taking up all the space on the back of the headstock.

Going by the specs on the Fender website, the necks of the 50s 60s and 70s CV Ps differ only in the fretboard material and decoration: they all have 1+11/16" bone nuts, narrow tall frets, a tinted gloss urethane finish, and a slim C-shape profile.

Do they indeed all feel exactly the same?

And how slim is "slim"? About the same as the MIM Player Precision?

Well it looks like I have another club to join, and I am very impressed with my Olympic White Classic Vibe 60's Precision that I just picked up today. I was thinking about holding out to buy one of the new American Pro II's in the same color combo, but this Squier just popped up "used" locally for a good price even though it literally hadn't been played to the point that it had never even been tuned up and still had plastic on the pickguard and tuners. Heck, the hang tag was still on it as well! It comes in at 8 lbs 6 oz and sounds absolutely fantastic! I've played on the MIM and MIA models in the store that didn't sound half as good as this. Fit and finish feels perfect to me as well. For $350? Uh...yeah!

Just saw these on the Thomann website. I had no idea these were coming! I have had my eye on one of the Walnut 70s P-basses, but this might be the new front runner! CV 60s P in Sonic Blue! Beautiful! The description says "Limited Edition." I wonder how "limited" we're talking...

So i was lucky enough to score a Classic Vibe 60's in fiesta red.
Been wanting one for a loooooong time. Thank you life :) :)

Just put a set of worn out Chromes on it and WOW... I have a P-Bass player series with the Original pickup installed, a set of Jamerson Labellas and upgraded pots and caps and my first feeling is that the CV is more fun to play and sounds equally good... Im a VERY surprised. I was planing on upgrading the PU with some CS62 and some Thomastik flat but i'm not sure anymore...

Also have a Squier Chris Aiken with a PV63 pickup, fender 9050m flats and upgraded pots and cap and although it is similar to a CV i don't think it's better then the CV 60's.

What a bass

They are fantastic. Give the TI Flats a try. I think you’ll like them even better than the chromes.
By the way, if you want to swap pickguards,, let me know. I’d love to have the sticker.

I just traded my Sterling by Music Man Ray24 for a Squire CV. Apparently, it has an Obisidian Solderless Wiring Harness, Hipshot bridge, and Seymour Duncan PUPs of an unknown type (to me anyway because I am dumb and did not ask).

I think I want to replace the knobs because one of the set-screws seems to not want to hold it on the pot. Will regular Jazz knobs work or do I need Squire-specific knobs?

With those oversized slugs, they're most likely Quarter Pounders. Pretty aggressive sounding, ja?

If the pot shaft is splined instead of smooth, you should be able to adapt it with something like this. I always keep a few in my toolbox for just such situations. ;)

Don’t know how many but that they were limited to Guitar Center in the US and Long & McQuade in Canada.
Awesome Color. My 2nd favorite after the Fiesta Red.
Same offer to you. If you plan on ditching the decal, please don’t . I’ll swap pick guards with you .

Im just loving my '54 type CV precision, a well chosen present from Mrs Plank.

It feels great, sounds authentic looks stunning in blonde, and is finished to a much nicer level than my Fender PB.

The only slight niggle is the pickguard, that was clearly machined with a chainsaw. I may remove it and sand and polish the edges.

That aside, lovely. Theyre taking the fight to Harley Benton with this one.
