I am a guitarisr/bassist and on my brother's suggestion (he's a bassist) I picked up a CV P bass and man I love it! My Peavey Cirrus BXP has been put in the attic - literally because it can't get the sound of this little wonder. I tried to tell a bass guy who plays around a lot about it. He's in various bands. He wouldn't even let me finish. He basically blew me off and walked away. Granted he was playing a Ken Lawrence Instruments bass... But I know Ken Lawrence and took my frickin Squire CV P Bass over to him to glue in some screws on the bass. (After 4 months the strap screws as well as a couple of the bridge plate screws stripped out - and I didn't over tighten them...) Anyway, Master Luthier, Ken Lawrence said the Squire is a fine bass, and he's not surprised with all the advancements in instrument construction these days.

Anyway I featured my Squire in this video for a Folgers Jingle Contest. The thing records great IMO, though I was not featuring the bass much in this mix.

Looks like we're getting a new color option on the CV 50's P bass. No street date yet.
Looks like I might get just one more Squier bass ... (I really shouldn't, though)
Just wanted to ask while I'm in here, how easy/difficult is it to swap out the CV bridge for a regular Fender/Squier bent steel low-mass bridge?

You need to fill the holes and drill some new ones. I've done it ; 15 minutes, some toothpicks and a touch of wood glue and I had my body ready for a new bridge !

Mine had already 2 set of holes for the bridge done at the factory, one filled (they probably messed up something assembling it), so one of the holes is showing on the side of the bridge.

so with all the CV J's and P's floating around here ... I would be very interested in hearing the variety of weight on these guys ... if you have a fairly accurate reading on the weight, please post so that they can be compared please .. thank you

This is what the Fender Anniversary model should have looked like, and why I bought the (blue) Squier 50's instead! Well, this one could join the blue baby (now at a luthier's, to be defretted (!) and stringed BEAD).

Edit: but how comes it's not on the Squier site?

Not announced/released yet. Same thing happened with the Squier FSR 3ts VM Jazz at Musician's Friend. MF has a habit of putting pics up of instruments that the manufacturer hasn't even announced yet.

That's the color the '51 CIJ P BAss should have been! Not the mustard yellow it was!

BTW, that neck looks INFINITELY better than the LBP ghost white neck. It is a must buy.
Can you fit the CV with a period correct two saddle bridge?

Hey, the actual HM bridge and the contoured body are just the only things that discern it from the original: modern but discrete touches that makes a vintage looking instrument comfortable! I love this bridge... why putting up with an outdated design that doesn't add anything to the vibe (same for the original slab body), while other design details (PG, tele headstock, PU, control knobs) look great whithout taking away any playability! I maintain that this, especially in butterscotch blonde with black PG, is how *Fender* should have done it! Well, I still like my LPB version (calling it "Blue Baby", which is what my own decal on the headstock will say when the luthier's work is done), but if I had known of this...

Well, I also would like to change out the bridge on this for a standard four saddle bridge for two reasons, simply because I prefer them over the HM bridges, and I would like to put on bridge and pup covers, and I don't know if a cover would fit over this bridge. If it did, I might be tempted to leave it on there. This is all probably moot anyway, I likely won't be getting this bass as it is. No room left in my apartment .

If that is really coming out, it'll be mine !!! That's a wonderful cobination of colors. Hope that it will be official soon :hyper:
